Great so when those lorries pull out without indicating or before indicating, without due care and attention for traffic in the lane they're moving into, they are obviously of "ill repute"

Err, no. As for due care and attention and lane changing without indicating...people in glass houses and all that.

Oh, and how many car drivers got speeding tickets from GATSOs last year? 2 million. That's 2 million examples of incompetent car drivers who failed to see a bright yellow box at the side of the road. And you criticise us?

In case anyone is still under the illusion that "it's all because of the price of oil", this picture shows the current price of fuel at Morrisons (used to be Safeway until earlier this year) in Gibraltar:

Note in particular the price of diesel - about half the cost of the UK mainland.

And don't forget it must cost a lot more to get the fuel transported over there, and there's only a couple of petrol stations on the island so the fuel prices aren't exactly going to be competitive. So it would probably be much cheaper still if it wasn't for those two factors.

So sensible prices are possible because they exist right now - but sadly not in a place we can easily reach.

And it seems Gibraltar pounds (GIP) have the same value as GBP. If the pumps went to those prices here overnight it would be like Christmas is coming.

Yes, Gibraltar £ are identical in value to GB £.

And don't even get me started on the packs of fags for £1 and a litre bottle of vodka for £2.50!

When you see British products being sold by British shops in Gibraltar at those insane prices, it really is a stark reminder of how much we're getting fleeced by Brown.

Sounds to me suspiciously like they're going to blockade refineries.

sounds to me like they have no idea what their plan is, and they are waiting to see what support (if any) they have before they decide whether to blockade refineries or their local Morrisons.

I noted some of the comments on that blog and did a bit of searching

Perhaps Mr Andrew Spence's BNP supporters need to do a bit more research and learn that he left the party in August after a punch-up with a senior party member.

"The punch-up happened at the BNP's Red White and Blue festival, in Derbyshire, last weekend and Mr Spence today confirmed he had thrown punches at the party treasurer, John Walker, and got involved with publicity head Mark Collett. "

If he attacked me, I'd do my best to see him put in jail.

Is the country's only means of objecting to fuel prices really in the hand's of crypto-fascist nutters like this, who can't even stay on good terms with each other, let alone anyone else?

I'd be amazed if anyone gives it much creedence at all, especially after a previous protest in September 2005 managed to get about a dozen people to flock to the gates of a facility at Jarrow, about 10 at Fawley, and 2 at Ellesmere Port.
  • The following statement is released on 10th December 2007 at 10:15Hrs

Transaction2007 have decided to release the date and time of protest action earlier than scheduled. This is to enable the motorist and public to better prepare themselves for the coming action.

A date of Saturday 15th December 2007 at 10:00am has been decided for protest action. This date was decided by members as the best possible to enable those who would normally be working during the week to attend. This action will be initiated at a refinery or storage depot somewhere near you. Anyone wishing to support action is requested to make your way there at the allotted time. Transaction again wish to emphasise the importance of legal protesting.

    Blocking refineries etc is pointless!
The authorities already have a crisis plan to lessen the effects of these blockades.

It would be more beneficial to block a specific major retailer such as SHELL or BP.

There are six pumps in my local BP garage. If I parked my car in a certain place, I could block 4 of them from being used. If I left it there for the day with a BIG sign in the back window saying "FUEL HIKE PROTEST VEHICLE DON'T BUY SHELL OR BP" does the garage have any legal right to tow it away?

Is it a police matter or a civil matter?

A very good question. My guess is either way they'd be pressing for police action.

Well, I wouldn't of stolen anything and I would be on their forecourt, not the road, so apart from the police coming to my door asking me to move it, is there anything more that the police can do? I don't think that they can force me to move it but i'm not confident enough to try it out!

Am I right in thinking that "Causing an obstruction" applies only to public roads?

If there's a sign up that says "customers only" then I'll go into the shop and buy a loaf of bread or something...
