There is a view that come April Tracker could become more expensive relative to rates for a fix.
I'm not convinced that comparing very small short term differences in p / kWh makes sense for variable rate tariffs. Only when these are sustained for a period of time. With SC's it's different.

I am operating with one foot in the MSE Tracker forum but having moved to the 14-M Fix tariff whilst comparing both in the weeks ahead. Is there a "companion" blog for fixed people?Telegraph Sam

Gas has a big impact on Elec prices as it powers the turbines when the wind doesnt blow and the sun is behind clouds. Front month wholesale gas prices have fallen from a high of 142p/therm to 106p/therm - a fall of 25%.
If the war in Ukraine ends and Russia resume pumping gas to Europe then gas wholesale prices could fall another 50%. Otoh if no resolutions are found they could start going back up.
Do you want certainty? Then fix.
Do you want chance of prices getting lots cheaper in the next few months? Stay on tracker.

Does the Money saving Expert energy club still offer to auto switch people who sign up to the cheapest deal going?
I'm on the Flexible Octopus for both Electricity and Gas and unclear what do to next.0 -

@nekromantik Seems like at present there are as many forecasters urging us to stay with Tacker in order to benefit from peace and goodwill in Ukraine as there are forecasters like Martin L and all stations west shouting at us to fix before it's too late. That's the plus of Octopus: unlike EDF & co one can sit on the fence in a fixed rate tarriff until the time is "ripe" to move back to Tracker without getting hammered with a £150 exit fee. You'd need to be canny to recoup that £££ in terms of p / kWh savings with normal consumption. Layman's viewTelegraph Sam
