    Cornwall Insight cap forecast here:
It's updated periodically, but is currently predicting 26.57p/kWh for electricity and 7.00p/kWh for gas, effective from April. That's a 6.7% increase in the headline cap from £1738 to £1823.

    Isn't it 4.9%?

Yes I don't know what lies my calculator was telling me last night!
Or maybe I just pressed the wrong buttons 😀

I've just changed back to gas tracker. My contract ended on 15th Feb and 5 days without worrying about the next day's price was too stressful! I missed it.
  • Since I deserted Tracker for the 14-M fix, the "clever" thing to do for both fuels, the north east Tracker price has consistently been lower. I don't think that there's a saving in SC's to compensate. S**'s Law.

    jump on agile?
  • I have given this a lot of thought. I think that whilst we are in the current price yo-yo situation, introducing the extra volatility of Agile would be adding yet another variable, when I am not convinced that this would bring me (limited load shift) any appreciable potential extra benefits over Tracker. However you get the impression that come April the situation could be reversed. I try to keep an open mind on this  and read avidly the various posts  :)

I presume Octopus will bring out another more expensive version of Tracker when the cap gets updated

Maybe not, if the price cap increase is due to wholesale prices then Tracker will follow those anyway. On the other hand if it's due to allocating other costs like SOLR, social tariffs, net zero etc then Octopus may need to increase Tracker.
  • With respect .. this ignores the Law of the Perverse Nature of Things.  Which states that if I and others switch to a fixed rate tariff then flexibles like Tracker prices will move downwards contrary to predictions. And vice versa of course. This seems to be what's happening at present. I believe that the latest Tracker formula is in fact slightly cheaper than its predecessor, though not lower than further back. One way of guaranteeing that the next version of Tracker will be more expensive would be to climb back on board when the details are published.

  • Is it worth fixing for 18 months on following:

    Unit rates

    Electricity: 26.06p per kWh

    Standing charges

    Electricity: 39.54p per day

Or do people think Tracker may end up dropping in summer months?
