Give it a go for a month. You can always change back again later.

If you just keep talking about it but never give it a try, you're really just wasting your own time. 😀
PPI success. Banding success. Double Dip PCN cancelled! South facing solar (Midlands) and battery. Savings Session supporter (is it worth it now!?)

It's a case of keeping a watching brief until the Time of Decision mid Feb (for Dec 23 people). I really don't want to risk changing over to TE and then back again after a month, the hassle would not be worth it. I'm inclining towards the Octopus 14 month fix depending on what if anything comes along between now and then.

Ask Octopus to fix now then.

Just in case the prices go up.

You can exit most (all?) octopus fixes without a fee.

You can retain tracker until it ends and move onto the new fix after it ends.

Therefore if the price of a fix went up between now and Feb, you'd be protected as you'd already locked in your next tariff.

It's a win in every possible way. No commitment.

Wrong , mine ran out 8 Jan, others have too, and in theory others may not expire til March. The next tracker after Dec23 was April 24.

I think that there are quite a number of people (not all) who are on Tracker Dec 23 v 1 now but who will have to decide where to go come mid Feb. More recent alternatives have all been less attractive.

Mine had until the end of March to run, but I jettisoned it in two stages earlier this month as no longer worthwhile. The Tracker gas has been over the fixed price every day this month so far and looks like staying that way, and the savings on Electricity are so small that they’re wiped out several times over on the peak days. Later versions of Tracker are even worse, of course.

IIRC there were a cohort of us moved across mid-Feb last year, from previously being on the Nov22 tariff, and then new joiners were put on Dec 23 up until April 24 came in.  Many of those have switched away already though.

Not wishing to interrupt the current conversation but in terms of switching out of Tracker Dec 23 to a fixed rate, Utswitch have just flashed me details of the latest EDF Release:  "Exclusive £100 Energy Bill Price Reduction on the Price Cap" / the "EDF Energy Simply Tracker April 26" tariff
Unit rates Gas 6.2654, Elec 25.599p
    SC's Gas 17.682, Elec 44.131 p
I don't yet know what the exit charges are.
Sounds like it "tracks" the Price Cap less £100 per annum, new marketing wheeze
The unit rates are nothing to write  home about but the SC's look interesting
Comments from the forum would be interesting

Yeah my Tracker ends mid-Feb and I have no idea what to do

Usage is about 11kWh for gas and 1750kWh for elec. no electric car or solar panels or any of that stuff.

Often in spring/summer I don't put the heating on at all, and electricity usage isn't that high either so I'm thinking I'd be better off with lower standing charges than unit price

Estimated annual cost on the EDF Energy Tracker April 26 is £1,376.87 so way more expensive than 2024 with Octopus
