Are the figures on your bill excluding VAT?AcerBen said:
Does the 5.00p I was billed for in October seem oddly low? Has the gas price gone up by nearly 1p in a month?FreeBear said:I suspect that the rate displayed for Tracker is the price in effect for today.Comparing the price given on the Octopus site and the rate I'm paying today, the numbers match.
FWIW, my October average, inc. VAT, was 5.25p/kWh, on April 2024 v1.1 -
Those unit rates shown are just for the current day on tracker.

Had several days of sub-5p gas in October (Dec 23) with a mean price 5.116p.SJMALBA said:

Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

Ah yes forgot the VAT. Still looks like that's gonna go up quite a bit though. Hmm I'm probably gonna fix I think.SJMALBA said:

On the website it says for me my current tariff.Unit rates
My quote is for 24.06p/5.79p which seemed like a good deal but now not so sure.
Electricity: 24.32p per kWh
Gas: 5.93p per kWh
What are these figures? I assumed they were the last monthly average, but checking my bill, I was only billed 20.55p/kwh and 5.00p/kwh for October, which seems very low, and lower than I would have expected, because I follow https://x.com/Octo_Tracker
I know there's a slight regional difference but didn't think it was that big. Those are todays tracker rates per kwh. I'd suggest to work out an annual amount for each tariff to see what the overall cost is and which works out best for you, given your attitude to risk. Annual amount is your annual usage in kWh (shown on bill) x unit rate, then work out daily standing charge x 365 and add these two figures together. Do this for gas, do this for elctricity, for each tariff you are interested in. Then compare the annual cost.Tracker rate changes daily and yours will end in probably Feb/ March? Meanwhile, there are some decent fixes (that will go up as time goes on) and the price capped tarrif will go up in Jan and probably April. I don't think anyone is planning to stay on Tracker when their current deal ends as costs are much higher due to the different way it is calculated. You can be on different tariffs for gas and electricity but will have to phone Octopus to arrange that.

If you leave Tracker before the end of contract date - for many of us on Dec 23 v 1 = Feb 2025 - or terminate "prematurely" before then - does that affect when you can re-join Tracker at some later date?Telegraph Sam

"Tracker is a 12-month fixed term tariff, which means that whilst your daily unit rates will change, the formula and the standing charges are set for the duration of your term.
You’re free to leave Tracker at any time - there’s no exit fee - but if you decide to leave, you can’t rejoin Tracker for 9 months.”

I was under the impression that the 9 month wait rule did not apply if you left Tracker at the end of the contract term?Telegraph Sam

That's my understanding.Telegraph_Sam said:I was under the impression that the 9 month wait rule did not apply if you left Tracker at the end of the contract term?0 -
To switch or not to switch ..? I suppose this depends on whether you / we think 24/25 is going to mirror the peak followed by a drop of 12 months ago. $10 K for the answer.Telegraph Sam
