Your contract is fixed until the end date. Which is why I said there is no point worrying about it until next year.Telegraph_Sam said:That means that on the one hand wholesale prices fluctuate daily as one would expect. But that on the other hand the conversion formulas, and standing charges, remain the same throughout the currency of the one year agreement that I am under the impression that I have signed up to (until Feb 2025)?

August bill has arrived, and both fuels have had actual usage applied.

Strangely, with electricity still offering a 15.5% (straight average) / 16.7% (weighted average) saving compared to SVT (despite being on Tracker April 2024 v1), the bill says that I could save money by switching to Flexible...0 -
Have no fear. I believe that there is a message on each invoice stating that I / you / we are on their cheapest tariff (regardless I suspect of which tariff this is)Telegraph Sam

Just checked my latest invoice. It says I'm already on the cheapest tariff (Tracker), although I reckon I could save a couple of quid by switching to Agile.Telegraph_Sam said:Have no fear. Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

You are not alone. I suspect same would apply if you were on FlexibleTelegraph Sam

Thanks for that. Been looking for Ailes formula for a while. Odd that London, compared with other regions, is low on Agile's formula list but one of the highest on Tracker.Spoonie_Turtle said:
Not at all, the 12 months fixed are 12 months fixed on that tariff version. Any changes to standing charges or price formulae are referring to when they bring out new versions.Telegraph_Sam said:Which to me makes rather a mockery of having a 1 year contract if key elements can be altered at will, whether or not technically allowed in the smalll print. Although if done as you predict this should be to the benefit of small consumers?
Different formulae do apply; on this page they now publish the regional variables (hooray! I'm chuffed to find they do now).BarelySentientAI said:
Different wholesale prices probably apply. That would make the most sense anyway.Telegraph_Sam said:Would you expect the average of Agile prices on any one day to equate to the Tracker price for that day? Or do different wholesale conversion formulas apply? If so I suspect it must be possible to look up said formulas somewhere

Compare with Tracker and its regional variables

VAT change would alter both unit price and standing charge during a contract.

Fair point, but that would not be Octopus' choice. (Unless they chose to absorb the increase for the duration of the contract - not something I think they will or should do though.) Whereas it is their choice to change SCs and formulae to make new versions of the tariff.PennineAcute said:Spoonie_Turtle said:

Sorry to interrupt.
I have just started submitting "export" readings which should get credited to my Outgoing Fixed account. Where on the website can I see the running total? And check the anticipated credit.Telegraph Sam

Under "My Energy" you should have a separate chart. They're both titled Electricity, but one will have "Electricity usage" and one "Electricity export" followed by the appropriate MPAN. On my account web page export is shown below usage. Display can be toggled between kWh and £.Telegraph_Sam said:Sorry to interrupt.
