What do you make of the above then? They seem to explicitly talk about the cap... I have asked them again to confirm some other bits so I will post the reply now I am talking to another CSA anyway. Seems pretty direct and conclusive to me.
@Mstty - You screenshot it and posted it in another thread previously

@milo_2020 IME, and in all frankness, Octopus CSAs often don't seem to know what they are talking about. The fact is, to date, there is nothing written on their website, let alone in the T&Cs, that provide any form of guarantee in respect of the unit rate cap.I have tried to elicit an answer from a senior manager; they ignored the question.I subsequently emailed Greg Jackson, and the CSA that responded answered an irrelevant question; I replied back to GJ, pointing out that my query had not been addressed, and, two days later, the same CSA replied, actually acknowledged the question this time, and that said 'I am also looking into the Tracker query for you with a member from the department. Thank you for your patience I will be back in contact as soon as I am able'...Who knows, with all of us contacting them with similar enquiries, they might finally offer some definitive clarity, good or bad, so that we at least know, incontrovertibly, what to expect? For the record, I am neither a naysayer or a doomsayer...

Yeah, definitely, but Igor seemed to know what he was talking about as not one question required input from another team and he was fast to reply, he also adjusted my start dates of Agile and tracker for me as he said he would and he did deliver, so I would think that he is informed.
Regardless, its extremely unlikely they wouldn't honour it given they have employees saying they will. Coupled that with previous history and their versioned tariffs I think the risk is almost non existent.0 -
Unfortunately different CSA give different answers, and I don't think we get to pick the favourable oneETA, I think they probably will keep as is for the 12 months but that is not the same as contractually guaranteed (otherwise it would be in terms).

With energy prices so volatile, we can't promise it'll never change – we've always got our eye on the market to make sure Agile is fair / reflects wholesale1 -
milo_2020 said:Perhaps Agile, Go and Tracker is purchased on the intraday where quite often than not they will make a profit compared to the futures?Go/Go Faster is hedged, Agile is not hedged according to the published information on their website, tracker doesn't make it clear...I would be surprised if there has been no hedging on Agile/Tracker since they introduced the caps.

Why have people made this so difficult to understand? Over a month ago various posters clearly explained how this worked and thereafter I moved my electricity to agile and gas to tracker v3. Both are variable but the advantage is they have an upper cap for 12 months from when you transfer over.Agile cap 35p and gas cap for v3 is 11p. Come October you’ll be lucky to have these type of rates.2

I have taken the view that if the worst should happen then I may end up switching back to the price cap SVT. I have taken screenshots of my Octopus online account so that if I have to, then it will be a complaint followed by the Ombudsman. It will be a bit like those that complained about the BG SOLR tariff that showed a fixed price that wasn't, but with more evidence to show that the company misled it's customers.I am however hopeful that Octopus will actually honor the tariff, as they are still doing it for those on v1 tracker with the 6p Gas cap, knowing they drop off that tariff soon, and renewal will be tracker v3 or more likely v4 or v5. When I spoke to one of CSRs about it, she said there weren't many people on tracker v1 so it was not a problem to them. I suspect that Octopus will look closely at the number of customers they have switching to tracker v3 and Agile (Feb 2018 version) and pull those products when the numbers get to high.1

With tracker v3 do you need to check your meter every day?
I noticed on the Octopus website they mentioned a waiting list for v3. Maybe I misread though.0 -

They ask and I think it may be in their ts and cs that you read at least monthly. You can however submit as often as you wish and it looks it triggers a bill after each reading - although I have only put two gas meter reads so far - have been live since 26th June on Gas v3 tracker.
