I would be surprised if it was many. From your perspective, the fewer the better. If there were many, then that would incentivise Octopus to do something about it.northernstar007 said:i dont have access to the database

Which is why in the past some of us were quite discreet about being on expired tariffs long after we were supposed to be removed from them. The law of unintended consequences...Telegraph_Sam said:MSE Nov 22 Class Action

A tariff with a fixed end date is a contractual agreement for a fixed period which they eventually honoured in my case. They wouldn’t suddenly take someone off octopus loyal fix to move them to a different loyal fix. They could have changed the rates within that tariff in my case but they didn’t. All I provided was a screenshot of a bill and the app showing that I was on Nov 22 until June 2024, their records would verify that it wasn’t a forged document. The original customer services rep told me in three emails that they were changing my tariff (from a fixed term) because they needed to move me to a fixed term tariff which made no sense. Once I escalated it to a complaint the Nov 22 tariff was reinstated immediately.masonic said:Griffindog said:
It goes without saying that has to show your account number too or something else to identify that it is your accountmasonic said:
Anyone can do that. You also need to have been on such a tariff and deal with someone who cannot articulate a sensible rebuttal.Griffindog said:
Provide screenshots showing November 2022 tariff with an end date.Telegraph_Sam said:If you know how to stay on Nov 22 (Agile or Tracker), tell us about it !I could without any difficulty generate a screenshot with my account number and the Nov 2022 tariff with an end date of 1st Jan 2030. It would do me no good if upon checking my account Octopus discovered I was never put on this version of the tariff (which of course I was not).Supposing I did genuinely get put on the Nov 2022 tariff with an end date, if I was unlucky I'd get a response from a competent complaint handler, who would inform me that under condition 2.9.8, they amended my agreement to the correct version of the tariff that was live at the time of my sign up and they are not liable for any losses resulting from this issue.1 -

Rather someone made a mistake when executing the switch and added a version of the tariff that did not exist to your account, causing it to incorrectly display an end date within your online account. We've previously discussed the complete mess that the Octopus rep made of explaining the real reason for the change, and you yourself admitted that if they had given a valid reason you would have probably gone along with it, but you didn't accept their nonsense. In your situation I would have done exactly the same and taken them to task for the reason they provided. It is not for us to argue their case for them. But for anyone else who didn't get put on the wrong tariff by mistake, trying it on with a doctored screenshot is very unlikely to yield results. And even for those who were in the same situation as you, there is no guarantee the person dealing with them will be equally inept as your rep, though nothing to lose in giving it a try. What is interesting to me is that Octopus added a specific condition covering the above scenario in their T&Cs which came into force on 22nd December 2023.1 -
