  • I see that within the T & C docs that I have downloaded there is one that is entitled "These terms apply to the Octopus Tracker tariff - last updated on 30 January 2024 (Version E)". It is not clear how this relates to the Dec 2023 tariff. Is it a separate stand-alone new additional tariff, with presumably higher charges, that replaces or will replace the Dec 2023 tariffs?

The T&C cover all versions of the Tracker Tariff. There are separate clauses to cover the differences between versions (2.9.3.1 vs 2.9.3.2) and refers to the FAQ for the two formulae in use depending on when you joined or renewed. Clause 2.9.4 even provides for the early versions by stating that the cap is the one specified when you joined or subsequently notified to you.
  • I moved to Tracker Electric in Oct 2023 and Tracker Gas in Aug 2022. For me then para 2.9.3.1 applies.  2.9.4 is about to no longer apply since notification has been given. The implication is that I will be moved to version Jan 2024 v .E but this may be incorrect. It would be surprising if Octopus published Dec 2023 v 1 followed by a Jan 2024 v E only a month later. I have yet to find any rates for the latter.

Where did you get that from?  It's not like Flexible where your tariff version might be that month you joined, they have separate and distinct Tracker versions and the most recent one is Dec 23.
  • As I mentioned the doc was one that  I spotted in the blurb that describes the tariff and gives the T's & C's. The ref to Jan 24 version E was in the title. It implies that there was a revision end Jan 2024 and this resulted in "version E". Confusing to the uninitiated.

It's just saying when the T&Cs were last updated :)

Only until 15th February, then your contract will renew and 2.9.3.2 applies.
2.9.4 is about to no longer apply since notification has been given.
2.9.4 relates to the cap on the unit rate. This was set at £1 when you joined and will remain at £1 when your contract renews, but from that point it will be fixed for 12 months. Others may benefit from a lower cap as a result of joining older versions of the product.

There is no implication that you will be moved to version Jan 2024 v E. "Last updated on 30 January 2024 (Version E)" means that the T&Cs that now apply to all Tracker customers are referred to as Version E and they came into effect on 30th January 2024.

  • I moved from the tracker to the agile tariff a week ago, sooner than I had planned but the rate change for the tracker meant I acted quicker.

anyway the first weeks numbers are in - £10.36 vs £14.24 on tracker. That’s 63kwh of electricity so low usage. All my ev charging was done in the early hours and I think one of the days we had negative pricing so charged it for nothing. So over a month we might be looking at £16 saving which definitely helps.

I had one day where Agile was more expensive but we’re talking 4p 😂 - this is a normal day for me when no car charging, and no washing machine running for instance.

Very nice although why did you move to Agile before the price increase kicks in on 15th Feb?
