And because of Agile's higher multiplier Agile becomes less competitive if price levels increase generally. Such is my understanding of the mechanics.Telegraph Sam
There are also unknown unknowns - the one's we don't know we don't know0 -
So the spanner in the works is Cornwall predictions as was explained to me. Aren't they predicting 2 periods of reducing prices.
So doesn't that bring Agile into the equation more?
Someone far more experience in these tariffs can perhaps answer this for me.0 -
Another thing to consider is whether or not the (at the moment) small savings from Agile over Tracker is worth the time you'll spend keeping track of it all and adjusting your life around it. If you live alone, then maybe it's convenient, but I don't think it's worth it for a family home.2

Seems to me to be worth it if you infrequently charge an EV.
I experimented over the weekend with load shifting into the agile period even though I'm on tracker, based on the new formula Agile was half the price.
Obviously this is the best case scenario

I experimented over the weekend with load shifting into the agile period even though I'm on tracker, based on the new formula Agile was half the price.my normal day yesterday, actually included one load of washing, and no EV charging. Comes out pretty much flat, I wouldn’t move to agile on this basis. But I have a hybrid and wow does that make a difference on Agile0 -
The difference we have found comparing the new Tracker formula to Agile is that with the new formula Agile comes out cheaper without changing lifestyle at all. Where as with the old tracker formula Agile was always a bit more expensive and you had to shift usage to make it work.
So when others say it's a hassle as they will have to load shift...well they don't but if they do they end up saving more and can make it more comparable.to the good old tracker formula.

FWIW, I am not considering moving to Agile. During the summer, about 50% of my weekday usage is during the 4-7pm peak, and it is difficult for me to move this. But my usage is also very low (<3 kWh/day). When I was last on Agile, at more expensive times the prices in the early morning (~6-9am) were also rather high, essentially a secondary peak period. So I would be reliant on savings at the weekend and negative pricing (wasting energy) to bring my overall bills down to an equal level. I'm happy therefore to stay put with some mitigation should prices unexpectedly rise.

If new Tracker is slightly more expensive than Agile, so be it - it'll still be saving on Flexible. And if that changes, well then I'll have another think. But for now, I know myself and what I'm like, and I know I can't cope with that extra mental load.
We often talk about appetite for risk, and it seems Agile may just be a step beyond mine, in our current circumstances.0 -
Still no email, so hopefully I'm staying on the old tracker formula.0
