One of the advantages of a forum like this is that in the Tracker vs Agile debate it should be possible - hopefully - to get real world feed back from those affected as the new formulas bed in and generate data.Telegraph Sam
There are also unknown unknowns - the one's we don't know we don't know0 -
I'm on Agile but haven't really done any load shifting. At current prices there is nothing in it, as prices go up tracker will likely become the better bet but for now Agile offers more flexibility with the less restrictive switch out switch in.

Agile is sitting in the middle of the trackers for me. Currently I put the dishwasher on timer if the next day is cheaper but that's the only consideration we do.
Agile would appear to be the right move but are they any other factors I need to weigh up?
Thanks1 -
Telegraph_Sam said:I had studied the agile-pricing page previously but it did not seem to contain my region-specific info. On the other hand the google-lipman duo does seem to make the calculations doable. At first glance my gut feel is that anyone who has to take the 4 - 7 pm penalty hit without the facility to recoup at other times - anyone in this flat consumption situation had best give Agile a wide berth in favour of Tracker. I'd be interested to be proved wrong however.
Yes if I was a peak centric user I would be staying on tracker, it is important to warn people just because some of us might be moving, its not necessarily a good idea for everyone.
I have occasional days when I am using all my devices at peak, but even then its not peak centric as the same devices will be on at least for another 10 hours of the day as well. Mix in all the days I am using my devices at night is why Agile works ok for me.

Agile has a higher multiplier but no offset for 7/8ths of the day. This means that, if you were to plot a chart of "average retail price" vs. "average wholesale price" for both tariffs, Agile would have a steeper slope than Tracker and would cross the y-axis at a lower value.I might plot that chart later and share it here. The net result is that, for someone with a truly flat electricity use (the same amount in every hour), Agile is cheaper when wholesale prices are low but more expensive when they are high.
Yep this is the case, but the shift is now with Tracker getting a chunky bump whilst Agile is keeping its old formula. So now that cross over point is higher than what it was before.
I see you already did old and new graphs, brilliant thanks.

The app has me saving about £6 a month on both Dec 2023 tariffs. For the last full month.£46 old tracker.£48 agile.£54 new tracker.1 -
The danger is, I suppose, to switch from old Tracker to Agile only for prices to go up. Potentially then Agile is less attractive but the user is stuck with Agile for in theory 9 months.
The other thought is not to be swayed by relatively small differences in current monthly costs.Telegraph Sam
