14.7p/kWh for East Midlands tomorrow if I've done the sums correctly - let the bargain price period begin :-)
Hmm. East Midlands is a slightly more expensive region than mine and I worked tomorrow out to 15.13p

I requested to be moved to Tracker last week but I'm still waiting for them to do it. Should they honour the previous formula or put me on the new more expensive one?

I have been waiting close to 4 weeks since requesting to go on a tracker and I had an email on the 1st december confirming my requestion never told me when I was getting put on the tracker just that I would have to wait up to 2 weeks to leave it!!!

Have you checked the tariff on the Octopus app to see if they've just gone ahead and changed it without formally notifying you?  Did you get an email asking you to confirm acceptance of the T&Cs?
The tariff I am on and have been for a number of weeks is flexible octopus for both electric and gas.  Looked at my last bill that ended on the 9th december says the same and is 26.20p/kwh for electric and 6.66p/kWh for gas

that says to me thats no the tracker as the price changes daily

It will be clear from any bill if any part of the billing period was on Tracker. The app or website will tell you your current tariff, or you can check the agreements via https://energy.guylipman.com/sm/getstarting if you go to the Octopus Account Details in the Admin section after entering your API key.

  • So we have a fixed end date on our Tracker tariff, will we be forced off early 2024 when it's dated Autumn 2024?

And following on from that if we are allowed to stay on the cheaper tracker formula until then how is that fair to those without an end date?

To date no existing customers have received notification of any change to the formula affecting their legacy tariff. The speculation circulating (admittedly involving members of staff) is that all versions of the Tariff will start to adopt the new formula at some point next year, but there is no consistent, or official, message about this. There is also no clear message that those who have an expiry date would be moved onto the current version of the tariff if they wished to renew.
The only instance where someone is at risk of being forced off the tariff is where they do not meet the eligibility requirements, such as not having a smart meter.

What happens when Octopus hit the change everyone to the new fixed tracker tariff in the new year and they are still on dumb meters. The December 2023 v1 clearly states smart meters are a requirement.
Either the dumb meter customers get swtched over, or they get kicked off the tariff.

They will get kicked off the tariff onto Flexible Octopus tariff. This happened to me early this year when my renewal came up and I didn't have a smart meter.
Well that is definitive then, from the horse's mouth so to speak.

Did you then get a smart meter and then rejoin Tracker?

Not exactly - Tracker v1 and v2 customers were offered renewal on their existing versions, for a further 12 month fixed-term, rather than being put on the then current version of Tracker (as happened with v3 and later customers * ), irrespective of whether they had smart meters, and despite it being made a requirement at that time (IIRC).

Of course, that was then, this is now, so...?

I wonder if v1 and v2 customers will be left for the duration of their current 12 month terms to end, before being moved to the new Tracker?

EDIT: * Seems, in some cases at least, not just v1 and v2, then?

Thats interesting. When I was speaking to a member of the Executive team (as I had sent in a complaint) I mentioned this ( I was arguing to be treated the same - on v3 I think,  with caps of 11p and 40p) she categorically denied that this had happened, Said it was not possible for anyone to remain on those caps once the newer version came out. She gave me £20 as compensation!

I think v1/v2 and maybe v3 early adopters have earned some leeway with Octopus being their guinea pigs?

Interesting. When I was on a call with a member of the executive team she said people being allowed to stay on those version hadn't happened! I was trying to be allowed to stay on my version 3 (I think), where I had caps of 11p and 40p, but she said it was impossible for anyone to have remained. She gave me £20 as compensation. It seems that the executive team don't know what is going on.

I imagine there is a vast gulf between what the people at the top think is happening and what is really happening. This is an inevitable result of having dozens of largely autonomous customer service teams. it is not a system that can ever give consistent results, but it does allow for quicker resolutions.
