Kicking myself for waiting and researching rather than switching to Tracker two days ago!
I know no-one can answer this accurately, but can anyone offer a 'best guess' as to whether I should still switch from Flexible Octopus to Tracker now? Large, rural house in Yorkshire, no gas (oil central heating), pretty high electric user of around £125 pcm in winter, prepared to check daily and maximise benefits.
Thanks for any opinions
LBM Dec 2011. Aimed, but failed, to clear all unsecured debt by Feb 2019. Finally free of unsecured debt 21st May 21!
Debt Dec 11: Unsecured £69,579 + Mortgage £59,948 = £129,527
Debt May 21: Unsecured ZERO! ZILCH! Mortgage £22,3320 -

Based on the recent past:
Still looks cheaper than Flexible the majority of the time, doesn't it?1 -
Even with the new formula the last year would have been 18-20% cheaper than flexible (electricity wise)masonic said:HappyNow said:Kicking myself for waiting and researching rather than switching to Tracker two days ago!

Interesting. How did you calculate the 18-20%? Or was that an approximation? Would this depend on one's individual consumption profile?Telegraph Sam
There are also unknown unknowns - the one's we don't know we don't know0 -
Assume we would get until the end of January at least, on the current calculation, if they intend on switching everyone over?4.29kWp Solar system, 45/55 South/West split in cloudy rainy Cumbria.0

Who knows some have fixed end dates and some do not. It's going to be a bit of a mess.Spies said:Assume we would get until the end of January at least, on the current calculation, if they intend on switching everyone over?0 -
Agreed, I've saved plenty so far in 18 months on Tracker. No complaints with Octopusmmmmikey said:To be fair, Octopus do have a good track record of "doing the right thing" so personally I'm happy just to go with the flow and see what happens.0 -
It looks like there are two types of customers now. This is from Octopus trackers FAQs, "Customers joining Tracker from the 11th December 2023 will be on our new pricing formula:... "Customers who joined Tracker before 11th December 2023 will be on our old pricing" And all the regional charging formulae are listed in the FAQs

I have been going spreadsheet made and put in a number of different usages throughout the year weighted winter usage and entered the new Dec 11th Tracker formula alongside the November 2022 v1 formula.
Its still a good deal based on the past365 days but what the next year brings........who knows0
