Last year was a once in a lifetime event
Every year is a once in a lifetime event. There won't be another 2021, or another 2022, or a 2023.
And Tracker hasn't been going for long enough to establish a norm.

Honestly was a stupid reply. You can track back at least a decade. What you are seeing now is what usually happens. But please go on with your fingers in your ear.
From my experience of having been on tracker tariff longer than most others who frequent this board, 2020 (as shown in screenshot) was nothing at all like 2019. 2021 was nothing at all like 2020, 2022 was nothing at all like 2021, 2023 has been nothing at all like 2022.

I can read the solar meter daily. There will be times in summer when the SV will produce more kV's than I am using. Are these "lost"? And the reverse  in winter when consumption exceeds solar generation. And other periods when both apply. How can I calculate how much lower / higher my invoiced consumption would have been in these mixed periods if the solars were or were not on stream?
The calculation will work in exactly the same way under all the circumstances you describe, and the answer will be as accurate as the readings and rates you provide.

It would be interesting if it was doable to compare, for each of the years mentioned, the simple unweighted annual average unit price

The data is here, if you want to download it then crunch it in Excel (other spreadsheet applictions are available).
For Southern region, I get the following unweighted averages for electricity Tracker:
    • 2021: 22.36p/kWh
    • 2022: 33.12p
    • 2023 to date: 19.24p
But please check, this is just a very quick look.

  • Thanks finding a source is half the battle. It looks like one of the links is gastracker north east england which sounds encouraging. I've worked with csv's and Excel in the past

Wikipedia reckons the UK has 30GW of wind generation installed. More official sources quote 24GW a couple of years ago.

This page suggests the record was 21.69, no idea how out of date it is

What is odd is the fact that they have fired the gas stations up to produce 40%, yet are exporting a load to France. Most be a logical reason for it I suppose.

@QrizB8. This risks straying into non-Tracker territory. I can read the solar meter daily. There will be times in summer when the SV will produce more kV's than I am using. Are these "lost"?
Not lost, you should be receiving export payments for the excess.

Jan this year was the record.

On another note not much change in electricity price tomorrow which is bringing down the December average nicely.
