Pleased to see a bit more wind than originally forecast for this week. That should keep prices from creeping up further in the short term.

I did have a weekend curry. I suggest we all do the samemasonic said:Pleased to see a bit more wind than originally forecast for this week. That should keep prices from creeping up further in the short term.1 -
Do you use / advocate Energy Stats UK as the simplest one-click way of keeping tabs on the latest (and for that matter the historical) Tracker rates? If I have interpreted correctly it seems that the North East is marginally below the 20 p milestone so washing can commence ..Telegraph Sam

I signed up for daily email alerts from gastracker so that I get alerted to tomorrows price by lunchtime. For recent history I favour mysmartenergy.ukTelegraph_Sam said:Do you use / advocate Energy Stats UK as the simplest one-click way of keeping tabs on the latest (and for that matter the historical) Tracker rates? I have been on Agile the last few months, but I think I am going to switch to Tracker this week.
Possibly we might consider the approach of being on Tracker from around that start of December for 3 months, and then back on Agile for 9 months. That said, we might just decide to stay on Tracker as the savings on Agile in Summer are there but it's debatable whether it's worth the hassle - this is actually my criticism of Agile - the penalty for the 4pm to 7pm is a bit too high and makes it difficult to justify, whereas ideally I think it's a responsible thing to be on a load shifting tariff.0 -
The impresion I get from following this correspondence is that Agile is - relatively - high risk high reward, and that this can only be justified if you have an EV that you can load shift significantly. Otherwise as you say it is questionable if it is worth the hassle bearing in mind the time restrictions for switching in and out of Tracker. My rule of thumb is that you opt for Tracker on the basis of a medium to longer term view whilst Agile is more for taking short term decisions. Sounds good even if not without its flaws ..Telegraph Sam

Actually, those with EVs are probably better off on other specialist tariffs. Solar + battery is another option that gives a lot of load-shifting potential and would tend to give Agile an edge over Tracker (normally).Telegraph_Sam said:The impresion I get from following this correspondence is that Agile is - relatively - high risk high reward, and that this can only be justified if you have an EV that you can load shift significantly. I think that's scaling up by an order of magnitude. I have had solars (+FIT) for a number of years but whenever I've looked at batteries the economics in my non-EV situation were hopeless. Horses for courses.Telegraph Sam

Maybe worth mentioning again - since it was someone else's earlier post that alerted me to this functionality - is the Crowd Share data within gastracker.co.uk that lets you see some really useful info about the savings being made by people on the tracker tariff, segmented in different ways. Plus your own savings if you contribute your own data (automated via API). I notice there's a 300 limit on the number of accounts he'll collect data from, and it's at 244 currently...
I've found this super useful, with zero effort required by me, so sent Steve a few quid as thanks.
I'm currently planning a major modernisation (future-proofing) at my house, looking at ASHP, solar array, (future EV charger), with battery storage to enable load-shifting, which would put Agile in play.1 -
I have just changed to Octopus Tracker (which was done within 2 hours so good quick response from Octopus).
The only confusing thing is that now if I look on the app, it says I am on Octopus Tracker and "Fixed term ends 27/11/2024" - I was not signing up for any fixed term and the boxes I had to sign up to said that I could leave anytime (but it might take up to 2 weeks to take effect)?0
