Having said all this, the Tracker price is going under 12p tomorrow, absolutely bonkers.1

If Nordpool's DA price is correct (it sometimes (though rarely) changes later in the day...), a significant drop in tomorrow's electricity UR - for me, 12.52p/kWh.0

Ive never known the average Nordpool price at 10am for the day after ever change later in the day tbh, and I have been on the tariff since February.SJMALBA said:If Nordpool's DA price is correct (it sometimes (though rarely) changes later in the day...), a significant drop in tomorrow's electricity UR - for me, 12.52p/kWh.

It has done, though it may have just been a 'typo' on their site at the time of the original update?la531983 said:

Yes and I think that big price increases will in any case feed through to quarterly rates next time around. My working theory is that Tracker (and Agile) should be cheaper than SVR or any fix in the long term, as I get the impression that the cost of the hedging required to support the price cap structure and process is pretty big. This means wholesale type tariffs should be lower in the long term.Chrysalis said:la531983 said:
The moment the wind stops and people putting their heating on, increasing demand, and it's going to flirt dangerously with the cap imo.Chrysalis said:I checked my tracker today and its still circa 10p unit lower than SVR as well as cheaper SC, so all good as far as I am concerned, it will fluctuate up and down, we not going to never get upward movements.
Gas price shooting straight up from the off this morning again on the markets.Wind is usually higher in winter than summer.Of course we may have days where it goes high, it is what it is.I have reminded the forum a fair few times, spot pricing was lower last winter than it was last summer. If gas is 30p unit, I have a very simple solution, dont use gas heating, put on some extra clothing, and I have an electric heated blanket, does the job for a fraction of the cost.2 -
This is key information that needs caveating against all the excited fear mongering excitement when the prices rise a bit. I suspect a lot of it comes from people not on tracker wanting the prices to rise.tlcgrantham said:Though I appreciate early warnings it’s worth remembering that neither Tracker has ever been above the SVT rates all year.
11p tomorrow for our all electric house just in time for the legionella burn on the ASHP, couple of loads of washing and tumble drying, some fan heaters on in the morning as it's 6oC overnight just to take the edge off. I reckon we might hit 15kwh tomorrow for a cost of £2.07 including SC against £4.62 on price cap and the SC for that.
Lovely jubbly1 -
Washing, drying, dishwasher, hoovering, a nice long shower and anything else I can think of will be being done tomorrow. 11.76p from 21.41p yesterday is bonkers. Not complaining though.

Gas price shooting straight up from the off this morning again on the markets.Who knows, but this seems like a very real risk to me.I wouldn't profess to be an expert but it seems to me that an unseasonably warm (at times hot!) start to autumn must have a downward effect on prices and that has coincided with strong winds, which also tend to send prices down. On the flip side, gas prices are going up as a result of tensions in the Middle East. And who knows what's coming next - the world is an unstable place at the moment. The big risk that I would be concerned about is the effect of upward price trends on the availability of fixes. Anyone waiting for Tracker prices to catch up with SVR before switching away may be in for a nasty surprise. If Tracker prices go up in reaction to market prices then it's quite possible the SVR will too - albeit in 3 monthly hikes. And if that happens then it's likely that fixes will only be available at less attractive prices.SVR prices may effectively be a cap on Tracker prices (on the basis that you can easily switch) but that cap may rise if Tracker prices do. If you want price security at today's rates then fixing is the way to go and I'm very much of the opinion that would be a good option for many people. It's no good waiting for prices to rise first - it will be too late.0 -
