  • daft question, the price that it shows via octopus site for both gas and electric does the price it shows inc any daily charge or is that to be inc
i am seeing on the faq about daily unit rate there is a SC, which is a bit steep about 7.1p pkw to be added on?
The standing charge is the daily standing charge, unrelated to price per kWh.

The price shown on Octopus for the day's rate and other sites like gastracker.uk, mysmartenergy.uk, the unit price is the price you pay per kWh.  No hidden charges.
  • It's predictable that tracker gas people (like me) begin to get itchy as autumn approaches. The $ 64K question is, what is the best available fixed alternative at this or at any  other point  in time? It then becomes a crystal ball roulette job.

I checked my tracker today and its still circa 10p unit lower than SVR as well as cheaper SC, so all good as far as I am concerned, it will fluctuate up and down, we not going to never get upward movements.

The moment the wind stops and people putting their heating on, increasing demand, and it's going to flirt dangerously with the cap imo.

Gas price shooting straight up from the off this morning again on the markets.

Wind is usually higher in winter than summer.

Of course we may have days where it goes high, it is what it is.

I have reminded the forum a fair few times, spot pricing was lower last winter than it was last summer.

If gas is 30p unit, I have a very simple solution, dont use gas heating, put on some extra clothing, and I have an electric heated blanket, does the job for a fraction of the cost.

Probably all depends how high the gas price goes. If it goes over £2 a therm I cant see Tracker being viable.

Been following you posts on here as we are a tracker user.

Are you using tracker as well as you do seem to concentrate on the negative side of what may be coming and laying your fears down for others?

I wonder if tracker is the right product for you if you don't know or record your savings to date on the product and know your average since you started and use that to even out any rises.

Yes. I am just being realistic, its not going to be windy every day and people wont have whacked the heating on yet, Im keeping a close eye on it. This Israeli business could send everything north of £2 a therm rather quickly.
Paying yesterdays 21p a unit is better than paying 27p though, dont get me wrong.
  • Though I appreciate early warnings it’s worth remembering that neither Tracker has ever been above the SVT rates all year.
