Worth noting that natural gas prices are up 33% in two days....
And yet tomorrow's tracker electric price is significantly down from today.
Because its windy. And a huge bit of that increase came after todays auction.

Since that article above was written its gone up to 124. It was 94 at the start of yesterday.
Prepare yourselves because the reason why prices are going up appears to be a sabotage of a Finnish gas pipeline.

It's difficult to know what's going to happen and if the uncertainty is a cause for concern for anyone then that is a good reason to fix. You might not get the best price by fixing but you will get peace of mind. Having said that, it wouldn't surprise me to find that the Finnish leak is not hugely significant and what we are seeing is markets being jittery. We just don't know but my intention is to hold my nerve for a bit (I'm on Agile but the same issues effect Agile).

When did you join tracker and what are your calculated savings and average pence per kWh til now.

Something I said to our neighbour is keep a record of the average price paid and usage and only look to jump when that figure rises to the price cap. Ignore the blips rely on the stats.

However I do envisage a number of hot UK deals tracker customers jumping ship early.
  • im due to come out of a 2 yr deal, im watching prices before signing up on a tracker, in 2 minds doing a 12 months fix with current supplier (sp)

Wholesale gas price down 4% in early trading so hopefully the markets have calmed down and level heads have prevailed.

A further regional concern being expressed by market analysts at the moment is the potential threat to LNG tankers transiting the Suez Canal. As with all market hypes - be it shares or energy - there does tend to be an over swing before the market settles at a slightly reduced level than the peak.
