Agile is a bit like shares. Past performance is no guarantee of future pricing. Moreover, unless the actual usage profile is overlaid against both tariffs, then any result will be flawed. For Octopus customers, overlaying actual usage (kWh for each 30 minute period) is possible with apps like Octopus Compare. Other third-World suppliers have yet to provide their customers with API access to their actual energy accounts.

Anyone have experience of joining this tariff without having working smart meters?
Just had my old meters swapped for smart in preparation to swap over on 1 July and they aren't picking up signal (likely because electricity meter is in the cellar). Everyone at Octopus seems pretty insistent you need a smart meter for it but I've definitely seen posts from people who don't have them...I queried this with Octopus and they said pre-February you didn't need one but because of the influx of customers to this particular tariff their system now needs everyone on a smart meter. They didn't seem to be able to provide an answer as to what would happen to anyone who was currently using it with a dumb meter so sounds a bit fishy to me!
Any info appreciated!

You need a smart meter to join the tariff now.
If you switched to the tracker before the requirement to have a smart meter came in, you continue on the tariff as it wasn't needed when you joined.

The high heat has knocked down solar production a bit and there's been very little wind. More gas is needed to supply electricity so prices rise as demand is greater.
As you say, still quite cheap though.Barnsley, South Yorkshire
