Octopus Tracker

Your situation is not new. These forums have been filled over the years with 'complaints' from consumers that they were not allowed to switch to a cheaper/supplier tariff because there was an acknowledged debt on the account. It is one of those situations where both parties have a case. The consumer wants lower energy prices to help pay off the debt, and the supplier wants to have a hold over the consumer to ensure that the debt is paid off.cupcake43 said:
Given the current situation, unfortunately, finding an spare £380 laying around isn't possible. So I'll have to review the account probably around May June time when usage has dropped and hopefully we should be clear then to switch over.SpanishBlue said:cupcake43 said:Sadly after doing further investigtaing with my current supplier, EDF, and having decided to switch to Octopus, I won't be able to just yet due to the EDF billing. We've been on semi-annual bills so our latest bill has only just been generated and our DD re-calculated meaning we've not been paying enough for months and are left with a £380 debt that if I switched would need repaying.Frustrating as I was actually looking forward to switching but will need to clear that debt first. If you can afford to do so, make a one off payment to clear the debt. You should then be able to switch.0 -
Hi, I have switched to the tracker today, but my App on my phone seems to only show electricity and not montion gas at all (website shows readings from about 3 days ago). Also, the IHD still is based on energy guarantee tariff. Will both of these update automatically, or do I need to contact Octopus? thanks0

I have the same question as above but also the quote they’ve sent me via email increases my direct debit by around 33%. I wonder if that is to cover the chances of the tracker going above ‘standard’ rates and whether that is normal?0

Was only verbally for us. Then received an FYI email "your tariff has changed". Don't mind it at all personallyMWT said:
I did this a few days ago and they read out the statements they ask you to confirm when using the online link and asked me to verbally agree to them.bristolleedsfan said:Whilst super dupa for customer when tariff is changed as quick as lightening they are supposed to provide custiomer a quote which customer accepts by replying as well as agreeing to certain T+C.
Gas: warm air central heating, instant water heater, Octopus tracker
Electricity: 3kw south facing solar array, EV, Octopus intelligent0 -
I mean the actual Octopus App. It shows electricity but no mention of gas at all (website shows both). I did also just install the Octopus Home mini - don't know if that has caused it? I also use the Bright App which has the old tariff on as well (not sure if that can update to show tracker?). Thanksjasonwatkins said:

Octopus have handled our switch really well. Can't believe how quick it has been to switch. We've moved onto the tracker tariff which was arranged via Twitter for the day of our switch. The only issue I have at the moment is that the electricity smart meter is showing usage on the website/app, but the gas isn't. I've been told it can take 14 days which is fine, but is it normal for one to connect before the other? Just wondered if others found the same thing?

Yes, gas usually takes a bit longer. Give it a couple of weeks and everything will be sorted. You might see a few uh-ohs for a few days.Barnsley, South Yorkshire
