I meant the rates hadn't changed but that's very interesting to know.  A busy few weeks for them while they work out what to do with the tariffs then!
As per their message, I'd say it will be quicker than that... should be by the end of this week with luck.

I finally went on supply today, Tracker August v1 2022 - so not the best, but worth a try vs svr I think.  Anyway, the full tracker page isn't working yet - but I do have this....

    Today's Octopus Tracker costs

    Electricity £2.61

    Gas £1.29

What do these figures mean? Is that an estimation of my usage so far today based on today's prices?  Sorry for the basic question, just trying to work out how they fit in with all the comments here :)

Ahh!  Is there a good way of working out the dailies other than the look up against the markets (as detailed further up thread)
  • Ahead of time tracker - no, they don't publish this but the current day rate is on the tariff information summary on the main page when you login and scroll down, where you can submit a meter reading, for agile its under for the today and tomorrow in the graph, however you can get a rough feeling from nordpool.

Guy Lipman's site tracks the previous days too.

Not so much ahead of time particularly.

    I can currently see this...

    Today's Octopus Tracker costs

    Electricity

    £2.61

    Gas

    £1.29

but as I said above, I'm a bit confused as to what these figures are referring to?
  • If you put the Octopus App on your phone you can get the next day’s rates from midnight on the usage tab. I don’t have a smart meter so I submit daily readings which are charged at the previous day’s rates. Whatever I submit today will be charged at yesterday’s rates. I try to do washing, baking etc the day after a cheap day.

  • My rates are 30.72 and 7.30 today (Yorkshire).

That's what I'm after really - and I can see those figures in the app - cheers.  I also found another app that uses the API and supports tracker.

However, still confused about these: Electric £2.61 Gas £1.29 shown on my (web) account page.  The only guess I've made is that these are estimates of my usage for today so far?

They say my gas is £2.31 a day but its closer to 20p as we only use the Gas for a shower and occasional hot water, rest is mini split heating and log burner.

Octopus Watch is a good app for iOS which shows me my daily spend on tracker and gas along with the unit rate and my consumption to match with it, good to track if you are load shifting when it is cheaper than the cap (been quite good recently)
