Octopus customer service may be poor at the moment, but they are probably dealing with more queries than usual. If they staffed up to cope with the current demand, their admin costs would increase and then they would be over staffed when things calm down a bit. I’ve been waiting for a response to a query regarding missing billing for a couple of weeks, but it’s unlikely to be as urgent as many other queries, so I’ll just be patient.
<edit> Octopus just replied and provided an updated statement.6.4kWp (16 * 400Wp REC Alpha) facing ESE + 5kW Huawei inverter + 10kWh Huawei battery. Buckinghamshire.1 -
There hasnt been any indication from Octopus they dont have the info or are lobbying, I think its just as likely they have simply decided to not tell us yet as it is they dont know what they going to do yet.Mstty said:I would suggest the delay to announce either way on these "specialised" tariffs is down to Octopus lobbying the Government to get them included in the price reduction.
Personally I don't think these types of tariff should be included but as Octopus are likely to eventually take on all the bulb customers perhaps there are bigger leverages being used in these discussions.
You might get lucky.1 -
Presumably they'll have to decide by Friday. It doesn't seem reasonable to leave this unresolved when the EPG takes effect.There hasnt been any indication from Octopus they dont have the info or are lobbying, I think its just as likely they have simply decided to not tell us yet as it is they dont know what they going to do yet.0 -
2 properties with Octopus (my own and dad).
I fixed for my dad and based on the letter today and the average usage, it comes to £2489.51 (and paying slight more in sept since it was fixed at the start of the month)
I didn't fix for myself and this came ot £2451.48 (close to the guarantee £50 less than the £2500 average).
Obviously we didn't know what help was going to be given by the Government but it looks like fixing wasn't a good idea by £38.03 . If I had stayed, I'd also get the temporarily £50 below the cap for flexible customers.0 -
If they are not backdating and re-billing automatically, I would ask them to kindly do it for reasons given within screenshots.deutsch said:2 properties with Octopus (my own and dad).

This week I've had a complaint with Octopus resolved and they have moved me to the Agile Octopus Feb 2018 tariff;

They have offered to backdate this tariff to when my complaint was opened in July. What are the current thoughts on the 12 month term for this tariff? Do people think that Octopus will immediately increase the cap on this tariff once the 12 months are up?0 -
I would let tariff start from now.SuperHans1 said:This week I've had a complaint with Octopus resolved and they have moved me to the Agile Octopus Feb 2018 tariff;

Why worry about what happens in 12 months? You can always switch to the SVT at any time with no fee.
Just be happy you're on Agile and should get at least some of your electric slots at under the EPG rate and the SC is only 21p

FWIW, I had a similar situation with a complaint re. Tracker v2, and despite backdating, to my initial enquiry contact date, for re-billing, they left the original switch date as the starting point for the fixed term...

I don't see many moaning - just some info would be nice. Even if that info is "nothing changes, make your choice".[Deleted User] said:
Surely, there is a clue in the word ‘Tracker’: these are tariffs that track wholesale prices. Consumers want the immediate benefits when wholesale prices are low, and they then moan when a company-imposed Cap isn’t changed.Mstty said:I would suggest the delay to announce either way on these "specialised" tariffs is down to Octopus lobbying the Government to get them included in the price reduction.

You might get lucky.Having been on Tracker gas off and on for over 4 years, there are two things that Octopus might do: one, is they could review/amend their formula for converting wholesale prices into a retail prices and, two, they could look at the daily standing charge. A couple of years ago, Tracker tariffs didn’t have a Cap.
The third option is already present: a switch to the EPG-based tariff.1
