Why on earth do you want a bill every 8-10 days? That's a huge waste of Octopus' resources.

I do the same with Tracker. Readings on the 10th, 20th and last of the month.

I wouldn't call an automated pdf by email a huge waste of resources.

I actually thought this was standard practice, in the past whenever I have submitted a reading its usually triggered a bill.  Interesting to know it isnt anymore.

Still the case/should be still the case, bill/statement issued each time a meter reading is submitted irrespective of whether or not any energy has been used during interim period.

EPG rate for my region is only 33p instead of 34p, but I did the maths and even if Agile is not subsidised I am still better off staying on it due to the heavily discounted SC.

As you say, it is the norm and always has been. FWiW, I have just got a DD advice note from my ISP. The money will be credited to my ISP account next Tuesday.

As a Society,  we have become increasingly impatient when it comes to things happening immediately - the result of emails and social media.

This bit is normal as the customers bank has 3 working days from the point the DD is taken to notify that funds were not available and reverse the payment.

These batch processed DD payments are unusual in that the supplier gets paid first, then the bank checks if the funds were actually available or not...

So it isn't until day 4 after the DD that the supplier can assume the funds are really there.

It's something that Octopus choose to do, though. Amex, for example, often show the credit on my account the day before the DD has been collected. They've chosen to do that and would remove the credit if the payment failed for any reason.

Agreed, it is a choice that removes the need to reverse out failed DD payments, some others prefer to show the failed payment being reversed.

Both have pros & cons.
