Absolutely wrong! You should have bought his fish and chips and given back the fiver the same time as a thank you for lending it. Not for you to decide what he spends his money on. Tight I think.0

Oh thats well stink, you should have gave him his money. With love, POSR0

If you usually cook a meal then that's what you should have done. If you wanted to spend his £5 on fish & chips you should have asked him first. Give him his £5 - you know it makes sense!

Yes you were wrong.0

If you had done that to me I would make sure that I never lent you money again, then I would have borrowed £50 from you and paid you back in Mars bars!1

Oh no! That friendship maybe over as you broken the trust and agreement you had as friends.

Maybe you should have thought a bit more about how you would repay your friend although, frankly, he does seem to be making a storm in a teacup over a miserly £5. Proper friendship would normally overlook a minor slight like this, so it might be wise to allow the dust to settle and for time to reflect on your relationship. It seems a shame to jeopardize that, given how you describe him as your "mate", but if it's still upsetting you I suggest you pop a fiver in an envelope and send or give it to him with a note of apology. If he's the friend you reckon he is, he'll appreciate the gesture, forgive and forget.0

Personally I wouldn’t have asked for the fiver back in the first place.0
