Good morning…happy payday 😁😅…or happy Wednesday if it’s not your happy money shuffle day 🌺
So I have shuffled…pet food for July, soup maker paid, dd’s covered, savings, pots (do not touch the pots WW), £10 a day earmarked and £350 put aside for mot and service. If anything is left it shall go to pb’s, if it’s more than that there will be tears, stamping and a small paddy, before it slinks back out of savings!
I wasn’t great with food yesterday…I had m&ms at lunch time and a magnum after tea 😖🙄 Today I will try to do better.
I’m hoping the £10 a day/£70 a week pocket money will still work on my week off.
MrWW has come up with a few suggestions on how to spend my savings (on me) and is surprised each time I decline. I want to treat them as not there, he thinks they are an opportunity to have fun 😖 He keeps mentioning the original amount and also how much more I will have left each month…he means well, but I’m hoping he’ll forget soon and leave the ideas alone.

Happy payday  :) Mr SA is just like Mr WW, money burns a hole in his pocket.

It’s best they don’t know about it. I’m hoping any increases will go unnoticed 🙄 I have explained quite a few times I don’t want to be in the loan situation ever again and need to cover future things like car replacement (hopefully many years away) and emergencies, but it doesn’t seem to have sunk in yet.

Money burns holes in my Mr BB's pockets as well. I now keep the money for our future selves out of sight which seems to mean it is also out of his mind and he is not constantly coming up with plans to spend it, if only he could just leave it alone. He is always pleased when the money for an annual bill is ready or we have savings towards a big purchase like a replacement car or new boiler, both of which we are planning on doing this year.

@Baileys_Babe…it does seem to be a man thing. Mine suggested I hold on to his savings for something, but we run ours separately and I don’t want to be his mum, so I’ve tried to hard sell Monzo pots to him and we’ll see how that goes 😬 I’m bad enough with my own pots, I don’t need responsibility for someone else’s until I’ve trained myself!

Sometimes they're like giant toddlers wanting the next toy. My late husband was great at saving for house renovations (mostly because he was away at sea a lot) but when the time came to do the work there was always some tool or gadget that he absolutely had to have. My best friend is supposed to be being careful with his money as he's buying a house but he turns up with all sorts of dodgy gadgets or tells me about things that he's just bought that are completely house unrelated.

Even the HT who is usually good with money (he uses mine instead) announced last week that he thought it was time that he started collecting something again. I pointed out that the spare room is full of "collections" that he no longer wants and said he has to help me get rid of/sell those before anything else enters this house.

@CRANKY40 yes 🤣 and they always collect the dearest things and go for the most expensive hobbies! And the second they get the thing of their dreams they are already researching the next thing!

My friend collects VERY expensive watches & maybe wears one once a year.  Started off over 50 years ago when someone couldn't pay what he owed & gave him a watch instead.  Unlike my collection of nearly 70 Wasgijs (a kind of jigsaw) which makes total sense!
