The savings thing - I'd forget trying to catch up. It is what it is. You need to draw a line under it and give yourself some grace. I am always thinking that I "just need" one thing or another. My usual tactic is to put whatever it is in an amazon or ebay basket and let it sit there for a week or so by which time I've probably changed my mind. I can understand you ordering stuff because you live in the back of beyond and it's easier to have deliveries but if buying things online makes you feel like you're doing something wrong maybe you need to adjust your savings expectations. You only live once so you may as well enjoy it 😊

I always go with how many hours work is what I saved (or spent) and that is a good sum
of money saved.Tell it not in diet land but we promised ourselves chip shop lunch last week but the ground was so boggy that our walk took longer than we expected, the village chippy was shut and I had to cook frozen chips. Outrageous. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

You are all so sensible and kind. I will take the collective advice and stop harping on about what’s been and gone. As Lou says, it is a new financial year after all 😊
outrageous indeed @redofromstart! Frozen chips are quite acceptable, but not when you’re craving the deep fried goodness of a village chippy! Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

Good morning and Happy Good Friday. The fish and chip blip on the scales is still there…those chips must have firmly settled on my bum! Today is a day off as we are going out for lunch and I also really want to get an Easter egg 😬 I will report back on both, but I really want one of their lovely salads with a side of fries and a dessert. The salad sounds saintly on the face of it, but it has everything…coleslaw, egg, potato salad, grapes, cheese, etc. and you choose a topping, which is often pawns in Marie Rose sauce for me 😅 not so saintly after all! And delicious chunky seedy bread and butter or oatcakes come with it (bread for me). Then I want a Cadbury egg…maybe buttons? So, full disclosure, today will be good, but it won’t be ‘good’ 😁.
Tomorrow, Sunday and Monday I am off work, but MrWW is back at work, so then I plan to try for 10k steps a day and be much more sensible. I’ll be entertaining myself (or more likely a bit bored) so will have plenty of time to get some exercise in.I didn’t spend anything yesterday, which is unheard of for payday. MrWW is paying for the meal out today as an Easter treat and he gets the normal food shopping (the egg will be thrown in there), so today should be good spending wise, apart from I have several April birthdays coming up I need to think about. I have £100 set aside for them.
I hope you all have a brilliant Good Friday 🐣 🥚 🌷Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

Enjoy your day"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee1

The cat is sitting next to me and she says "Have the prawns". Add a small egg, not the giant size and you'll be good to go. Honestly I spent years saying no to every biscuit, cake and chocolate treat. I was still overweight. Now I join in with the everyone else for things like Easter but just try and eat a bit better in between.
Happy Friday and enjoy your lunch out.4 -
