Could you try stoozing with a credit card instead if you want a focus? It would be better value than a loan."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0

Good morning and happy Thursday 🌷✨ What a long week….thank goodness for bank holidays!
Pay has gone in and back out again, with the monthly money shuffle. I ended the month with £327 increase in savings. Could have been worse, but could have been much better. Overall I have been treading water this year and haven’t made up any of the losses from the end of last years bad months…yet. I think by Summer I should be back in front overall.I purchased the heating oil, a few pb’s, moved money to savings and more to the pots. I’m concentrating on getting the car pot to £1000 first and now have £400 in it. I don’t count the pots in with the savings. After the mortgage, dd’s and expected spends I have £300 left for April…this will fund any ad hoc bits and pieces.Yesterday we had fish and chips…they were delicious…and this morning I had gained the pound it took me 2 weeks to lose! I hope it’s only temporary 😖Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

Do you think you're feeling demotivated because you're trying to catch up/even up with yourself? Maybe you could try reframing things, because you say
'haven’t made up any of the losses from the end of last years bad months…yet'
but actually you went through a financially and emotionally challenging time and came out of it not in debt. You used your money to get you through that and that is what money is for.
And now you get to save for fun and for security, which is a life-long process for all of us. A £327 increase in savings this month is great, and you're not even counting the pots!
Glad the grub was delicious at least 😁3 -
Mmmmmm fish and chips. Love the smell of the vinegar.
Over £300 savings is fantastic.January spends - £587.582 -
Thank you @PennysIntoPounds, that is a much nicer way to look at it. I guess I need to draw a line under last year, rather than obsess about it.Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

Hi WW,
I’ve caught up again (after quite a gap!) and wanted to say well done. Firstly because I can see you are getting your spending under control (go you !!!!!! down tabs on things you were thinking of spending on) but you are also saving in spite of having some big ticket items needed (heating oil). Also, well done on the weight loss - I am really struggling with this atm but you seem to be making steady progress at UNDERSTANDING what you need to do to get your weight off (slight calorie deficit, touch more exercise) - I haven’t found that tipping point yet, but you are inspiring me to try again - thank you 😊

Thanks KK, it’s lovely to see you here again. Weight loss is such a mountain to climb isn’t it. You can do all the right things and nothing seem to happen, but one relaxed day and you get punished (eye rolls at the delicious fish and chips) 😬
We had ‘bit of a day’ yesterday which meant we were late leaving Mr KK’s parents place. As I knew Mr KK would be tired and hungry I suggested we stopped for a fish and chip supper …. but it was shut! So I had to cook … I was mildly resentful but also relieved at avoiding the chips! 😂😂😂
