@CRANKY40 that's a good plan but how can you resist the ones you make? I'm not a big sweets lover but if they're in front of me and I'm even a little bit hungry then I eat the lot 😶01.12.2020 - CC £16,839 / Loan £18,820 / EF £0

lol I'm with you on that one! I favour a milk choc and hazelnut (!) chunk cookie - nice and hearty! Or a maple/pecan job. But am a total sucker for Ben's Cookies (when I have the disposable funds as they are ruinously expensive!)WinterWarrior said:
And @Hazelnutty I love everyone joining in (but also welcome all quiet readers too), everyone is welcome…even the dark chocolate biscuit lovers 🤢🤣Choose kind

They're in the kitchen in a tub and I take my coffee upstairs to my pc most of the time so they're not within reach. Beisdes, if best friend has been here and the HT's partner is in residence you have to move fast to get anything at all 🤣 I've just made 16 brownies and 24 hobnobs. I don't like brownies either (I have to be really in the mood to eat one) so that's quite handy.jokono said:@CRANKY40 that's a good plan but how can you resist the ones you make? P.S. I'm fascinated by the bean to cup machines but i'm a bit intimidated by the one in the cafe which looks complicated. Are they easy to work and what do you actually have to do other than buy the beans?4 -
Typing whilst eating previously mentioned salty biscuits thinking about other biscuits i could be eating

The home versions are not as complicated as the shop barista set ups - mine is manual but has scope to just press a button as well to perform (once you predefine what you want from it). It does take a little knowledge around ratios of coffee in/out but its easily and quickly learnt mostly by how the coffee tastes. James Hoffman is a great guy to watch on youtube if you have some time free, his voice is also easy to doze off to.... a bit like Mr Attenborough but ive learnt alot from him over time.CRANKY40 said:

Nope, not even an arm or leg! 😂 The only thing I ever dunk is a kitkat finger in very hot tea so I can slurp the chocolate off!WinterWarrior said:@Naomim I like to dunk…not every time, but sometimes! And no to ginger biscuits? Even gingerbread men?
I occasionally make my own biscuits and did have some recipes from this very site. Sure on the oldstyle threads there was one for something very similar to the oaties but this was many years ago. Just searched my very old recipe folder and found it:
8oz SR flour
8oz sugar
8oz porridge oats
8oz margarine
1tbsp golden syrup
1tbsp hot water
1/2 tsp bic soda
Mix flour, oats and sugar.
Melt margarine, syrup and water in a pan
stir in bic soda and add all to the dry mix
mix well
Make small balls and put on greased proof paper and flatten slightly with a fork
cook at 180º for 15 mins
leave to cool
Enjoy!4 -
@MissRikkiC thank you for that, I'll have a watch. I like youtube - I once changed the screen on the HT's laptop by watching youtube. It saved me a lot of money!
@Naomim yes, that's the recipe for the ones that I've just made. They're very adaptable - sometimes I make them with a thumb print of jam in the middle and they can also have chocolate drizzled over them. Most of the time they stay just as they are. Everybody that I've made them for (apart from the HT's partner who only reheats pizza) has asked me for the recipe.4 -
I haven't made biscuits for a couple of years, but one of our favourites were twinks (named after the original poster) thanks for reminding me of the recipe @naominNaomim said:

I stepped away for a moment and look what I’ve missed! So many different biscuit and coffee preferences. I’m not a fan of black coffee, but rather black coffee than no coffee. I’m not a fan of dark choc biscuits, but rather dark chocolate biscuits that no biscuits 🤣
I like making jumble biscuits, I got the recipe from one of the earlier great British bake off books…you mix up all the ingredients in a pan and then spoon them onto trays, so really easy. There’s a base recipe and you add whatever you want, my favourite are white choc chips or glacé cherry and flaked almond, but they work with anything you can imagine thrown in a cookie.
my coffee machine is a delonghi, there is a grinder dial inside, but once it’s set up you just fill it with beans and set the strength and just press the button. We always get annoyed about filling the tank and emptying the grounds container though, it happens every time you are in a hurry and we both swear it picks on us!Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien
