We have a Tassimo machine and the coffee is lovely but the pods are expensive plus I’m becoming more and more aware of the wasted plastic. I’m thinking about getting a bean to cup machine at some stage, I only drink black coffee so wouldn’t need to be a fancy one with a milk frother.

I found tassimo drinks went cold really quickly, plus I broke two! I did like the hot chocolate though! I’ve seen you can buy refillable pods for some machines, they are like metal pods that you fill with ground coffee. I definitely recommend the bean to cup ones though. I’d love a plumbed in one as filling up the tank every 5 seconds is a pain 🙄

    Happy Tuesday everyone ☀️
No plans today apart from work. I am aiming for NSD 8 today. I really fell off the wagon and it will be a struggle to hit my 15 target. Only a week and a day until payday and the. I can reset the budget. I can’t wait to have my first month without the loan dd’s.
I hope I can avoid prime day today. Yesterday I bought chocolate 🍫 (I know, I know….but it was such a bargain).
I hope you all have lovely days 🌺

Morning! What kind of chocolate did you get? I'm more of a savoury snacker but can't resist chocolate orange 🍫🍊

Good luck for NSD 8, have a lovely day!

Good morning. I've given up on the NSDs - there seems to be something every day. Today it will be strepsils for sore throat boy who couldn't possibly mention that he'd nearly finished the last box before I went grocery shopping, sigh. He actually has tonsilitis but mentioning stuff that he'd like or needs after I've done the shopping is one of his "things". Takes after his father 🤣

@jokono m&ms, a box of 24 for £8 something. I may have also bought a box of packets of white jazzies 🤭. I love white chocolate orange, but they are so much dearer! I’m not against savoury snacking either 🤣 I really love the white fudge pretzels, but can’t find them for a sensible price. …and crisps…and popcorn 🍿
@CRANKY40  it’s to keep you on your toes 🤣 Mine buys the weekly food shop, but sucks his teeth about anything too expensive, then happily eats three quarters of anything I buy in separately (eg m&m’s and any bulk chocolates I find)..🤣

I have a tassimo as I like the latte's. Bought it years ago to combat my morning commute costa addiction.  In lockdown it's been it's worth it's weight in gold and I get the pods on subscription from Amazon.  Never thought about getting chocolate on there.  Although the way we go through sweet stuff in this house that's not a bad thing!

Tassimo never seemed to be hot enough for me so I gave it away. I honestly wouldn't know what other kind of machine to go for. I had a look at the nespresso stuff but decided they were probably just like tassimo but with a different name. When the late MrC was around he used to make coffee with blue mountain beans and a stovetop percolator.

@CRANKY40 and everyone else mentioning Bean to cup machines.

If you are in a position to replace your existing coffee making methods, i'd really recommend an Aeropress as a go between and a much cheaper option especially for those who take their coffee black. I use mine for work when i'm not working from home, it fits in my laptop bag and despite its lower price tag theyre so worth it. Fresh beans would be a necessity in my opinion however most roasters will allow you to select your brewing methods so that they can grind the beans accordingly. Theyre generally about 10% of the cost of an entry level bean to cup machine.

I have quite the selection of equipment at home including an espresso machine, grinder (with an upgrade on the way purchased with inheritance i was left when my mum passed), french press, stove top, and the aeropress. The latter is by far the bst option all around when money is priority #1.

I love our Aeropress, so compact, easy to take with you and quick to use. At home I use  https://www.bodum.com/gb/en/1208-01-pebo daily. We also have a few others which get used occasionally.
