Ww I might be aiming for 80% UPF free food…..doesn’t mean I’m succeeding 😉January spends - £587.582

sadly because of heath/mobility issues I am unable to access our local market for fruit and veg. I have to rely on online deliveries, all plastic wrapped2

@poppy811 it’s so hard isn’t it. Even if you choose a weighed out option it turns up in a plastic bag. I live very remotely and there isn’t a greengrocer in the town…are there many anywhere now? I can still remember the lovely smell of the inside of the greengrocers in the village where I grew up. That one has long gone now, I think it became an Indian restaurant.@milann how close are you getting to the 80%? The emulsifiers are strange too, they seem to be in everything, even wraps (which I thought were better than bread). Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

Our local Mr T take soft plastics for recycling. I am shocked just how much I accumulate on a weekly basis. I do wonder what happens to all this plastic though. There are very few greengrocers where I live, there used to be loads 🙁 Supermarkets have out priced them sadly.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

The last greengrocer round here went a few months before covid. The only place for fresh/loose is the market & the parking is too far away for me to walk at the moment. The Aldis near here take soft plastics (& batteries) & there are always people putting some in.

Our local Co-op has a recycling bin for soft plastics, pet food pouches & crisp bags, but I'm not sure what happens to them. I once saw a park bench which had been made from another supermarket's recycled bags for life, but I don't know how prevalent this is.

Our recycling collection doesn’t even collect glass and for the amount we have (an odd bottle and a few jars a month) I just never think to take them anywhere. I should, but the rinsing, storing and remembering feels too much…I know rinsing out dozens of pet pouches a day and storing them would be a step too far. It’s annoying enough scrubbing out the little tins and plastic pots from the posh pet food they get each day for the fortnightly collection. I’d be happy enough to get big tins of cat food if they did as good as it looks and double delicious in that format. I do wince at the amount of pouches we go through.
I’m imagining the bag for life bench ripping if it gets sat on by anything sharp 🤭 Does it get a like for like replacement for free when it breaks? 😁
I only got about 5 hours sleep again last night. I’m not sure if it’s because it’s warmer, but it’s no fun getting through an 8 and a half to 9 hour day after it…I’ve struggled this week.I hope you all have a good day ☀️Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

I think the lack of sleeping is definitely the heat and the light. I’ve been waking at 4 ish…sometimes getting back to sleep - sometimes not.
I reckon I generally do about 50% UPF even when we’re away. At home most days I get quite close to the 80% unless we eat out. I don’t usually buy ready meals as I make my own and freeze. I occasionally have sausages. I usually bake my own cakes although I do quite like a M&S snowball. I do have bacon and bread and canned beans.January spends - £587.582 -
I need to watch that show, I didn't think canned beans were UPF?!
I take my soft plastics to Sainz, I park there when going into town.
