You will be receiving your state pension well before they get anything sorted out so don't worry.

Hog away @milann and @beanielou. I love to hear from everyone. It’s definitely a worry for you. Life is difficult enough without having to keep proving how difficult it is.
People have lots of reasons for not working too and if they have decided to retire early and weighed up the finances then they shouldn’t be pressured into working longer. It’s hard enough that when I started working I was promised state pension at 60 and now it’s 67 😖 If I could afford to retire a lot earlier I’d be all over it like a rash 🤭

Good morning and happy Saturday ☕️
🎈 I hit 12lb loss this morning 🥁 It may be a fluke and I’m balanced right on that pound, but I’m taking it 🤭 Still a long way to go, but I’m now at the ‘top’ weight that I said I’d never get any higher than 😅 The annoying thing is that I’m not really feeling the difference yet. I still look like I’m smuggling ferrets under my jumper, just slightly smaller ferrets maybe! I used to always feel weight loss in my fingers first, but I haven’t got to that stage yet. When my rings feel looser I’ll know I’m getting closer…and I’d like to lose a chin 😁
Yesterday we went to an American diner place. I had fish and chips, which although deep fried and delicious seemed a lighter choice than a massive burger. I ate two thirds as I’m trying to stop when I’m full. I do think it’s easier to overeat slumped on the couch in front of the tv so am planning to go back to using the dining table more at home. We’ve completely got out of the habit of it. I just had a packet of fish and chip crisps for tea (healthy I am 😅) so although my calories were higher than they should have been and were red on my tracker, I still had a deficit.
We are not going out today, but I need to declutter my 17 things for yesterday and my 18 things for today. I am on the final Harry Potter audio book, so will listen to that while I do some decluttering and jobs to try and up my step count.
I hope you all have a lovely day 🌟

Nothing in the budget for us either.  I still plan on retiring early if I can manage it, and no Govt will convince me otherwise.  I'm supportive of the childcare support, we could have really done with that back in the day and that's one thing that might help people, but that's assuming there are childcare places available and that the subsidy covers the cost for the nurseries, as it doesn't right now.

Our council tax has gone up loads as well.  Our bin collections only comprise about £160 of that a year,  well worth it in my book, and I'd pay that not to have to constantly go to the tip as our recycling and food is collected every week and that is most of what we have.  It's all vastly sucked up by social care which is highly worthy, but not very visible for most of us, and still hugely underfunded for those that do need it.

@jwil yes the childcare is the right thing to do, but odd that it doesn’t kick in for years. Our bins aren’t great, it’s every other week for recycling and every other week for real bin. They don’t collect glass or food waste. There is a garden bin scheme, but people have to pay extra for that.

Yes, they've just dumped that childcare giveaway on the next govt expecting they aren't going to get in again! :D  I haven't looked, but I bet the pension thing kicks in sooner!

We have weekly recycling and food, and three weekly rubbish.  Garden waste is paid extra, but I don't bother with that as we just take it to the tip periodically.  We have loads of recycling every week, and there's not much rubbish left after that's all taken so it works well.

Well done on your weight loss!

The childcare thing takes so long to kick in that it could have waited until the next budget. The £600 incentive to be a child minder I just laughed at. Your heating would have to be on near constantly if you had other people's children in your house so the £600 might cover 1 month of that?

I quite fance an old age apprenticeship though. I'm jobless at the moment as I'm waiting for 2 half knee replacements. Waiting for surgery is easier to explain on a CV that being sacked for too much sick leave. I have my widow's pension and lower rate PIP to survive on in the meantime so I'm not destitute. I quite fancy being a train driver or something similar once my knees are done 😄 I bet that won't be on the "returnership" offers.

Our bin collection is much the same as yours WW except that we can put glass in the recycling.
