  • Wow, that's some expensive novelty jumpers. Good save on not buying them!

Well done on resisting the jumpers…..it’s so tempting at this time of year 🎃🎅🏼

  • Good morning and happy Thursday 📚🍫☕️ We can almost see the weekend.
I don’t have much to report, just work and the usual. The not stray cat that we took to his/her home now knows the way to our house and pops by for a meal and a stroke occasionally. It’s not hanging around all the time and there have been no new missing cat posts, so we think it just knows the way now and comes to see it’s friends. I’m still convinced ‘she’ is a boy 😁
Im still sticking to my pocket money goals, although my filling baskets and then abandoning them is out of control (on line not in stores 🤣).
I’ve not managed to lose any weight at all. As usual I seem to either be ok with money or ok with weight loss, but I struggle to do both at the same time. Obviously if I’m not spending I’m eating instead 😖
I am reading The Golden Enclaves by Naomi Novik, which is the third book in a series that I’d been waiting for. The series was recommended by someone on here @Naomim maybe? And it’s very good (thank you).
I hope you all have a lovely day ☕️📚🍫

🤣 good exercise though, all that running away 😁
Tonight I have once again decided to lose weight. An old school friend on Facebook has successfully lost weight and I got the panicky ‘oh no, I’ll be the fat friend’ feeling…which is ridiculous as I’ve not seen her face to face for 30 years 🤣 but if it panics me into being a reasonable size for Christmas I’ll take that. I really have over 2 stones to lose if I’m honest, I’ve expanded at a shocking rate 😢

Why not take it 1lb at a time. Two Chubby Cubs do a 1lb a week challenge with a printable chart to fill in. I can also highly recommend the podcast The Secret World of Slimming Clubs not just because the podcasters are local to me but because it’s hilarious 😆

  • The idea of abandoning trolleys in shops makes me laugh. I half abandon mine in B&Q sometimes, when I need something tiny from the other end of the store. I did it one evening the other week while I was window-shopping bathrooms after work, and they thought it was abandoned and put all the stuff back on the shelves!  :#

I recently discovered the "calorie density" concept. It's pretty obvious but I guess I never thought about it until it was pointed out to me. I eat a lot but bulk most meals with lower calorific food - fruit, veg (including potatoes), wholegrains (including rice and quinoa) and pulses. Not only do they have less calories per pound, they're also very nourishing and good for you and fill you up so you don't feel hungry. I use very little to no oil as that's the most calorific food out there and even two tablespoons a day add up to mire than 1500 calories over a week.

@KeepOnKnitting there’s nothing like having to shop twice 😖
@Sun_Addict I do follow two chubby cubs, but stupidly have never made any of their recipes (despite buying 2 books!). The podcast does sound funny, I really must find it.
@jokonocalorie density sounds so sensible! My failing is chocolate and junk food…I know it is, but it’s hard to control. Also after 8 or 9 hours at my desk I’m not in the mood for recipes that take time or effort. Pure laziness and I need to pull myself together on this. I do have a spray bottle I fill with oil so only a minimal squirt or three, but actually half of the time even that isn’t needed and it must add up.
I’m just having grapes, plain yoghurt and a small sprinkling of granola for my breakfast, but I’ve ordered a load of porridge pots…which I know isn’t sensible cost wise (see my money saving or dieting, but not both rant 😁) as I just know anything that takes time when I’m working gets abandoned pretty quickly. I (and MrWW) have said we’ll have a porridge pot for breakfast every day and one for lunch with a bit of fruit or something, then a sensible tea (tea because I’m northern 😬). That might not be perfect, but will keep calories down (which is the main aim for weight loss), add in some oats, which I know are very good for reducing cholesterol (and I have no idea what mine is, but I fear my diet will not be doing me any favours for this or future diabetes) and then I’ll try to keep teas full of that density and decent fibre and vitamins.  I will try to keep the chocolate to a minimum, but not cut it out completely.
I weighed this morning and am putting it out there…12.11 😢, I always hovered around 11 stone and my dream is 10.7. So you all know how bad things have got. Please feel free to tell me off at any point. Which reminds me of the wonderful Ghosts episode yesterday where they all had the biggest telling off 😁
Anyhow back to money…I spent all my weeks pocket money on ordering porridge pots (extra to the normal food shop, but then I’ll incorporate them in later) and some Christmas material, but I really want to make Santa sacks (lined in a different pattern, or possibly reversible).
I hope you all have a really happy Saturday and do lovely things ☕️📚 (no chocolate today).

  • Morning WW
    Good luck with weight loss.
It's so hard isn't it. I can be 'good' in the week, eat sensibly, reasonable sized portions but then undo all my good work with treats at the weekend. I'm already thinking I'll start eating better on Monday so I'll have a chocolate treat tonight and a pastry for breakfast tomorrow ?! I like the porridge pots when i'm in the office but i don't mind making porridge on the hob in the week. It's probably more MSE to boil a kettle than heat up an electric hob so perhaps that's a win  :#
Your Santa sacks sound nice :)
