Home Bargains have all the "C" stuff out on the shelves already. Then there is the TV channel that has already started with those movies. I'll be bored with it all before the end of sept & hopefully get a little more enthusiastic by the 24th. I have noticed though that the earlier they start the later I get back in the mood. I do send a few cards but only buy one present. The whole thing is just getting a silly money churning thing. I really am not a Scrooge, but they are making me feel like one or at least being one.

I'm loving the Ink Black Heart too. I love the Strike novels."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee1

@badmemory I love Christmas and love the cheesy hallmark Christmas movies any time of the year, but I agree it is a money churning thing. We reduced present spend drastically about 10 years ago as it was getting silly. I get nostalgic about Christmas, but it does lose magic when you can afford to eat the things with the weekly shop, rather than waiting for months for your selection box and desperately nagging to crack open the quality st under the tree. I love the build up, but find the day a bit sad…it’s just a day of cooking and I could do without that!
Me too @jwil.
MrWW woke me at 6 as he was leaving to let me know a cat had raided the dogs chicken and eaten it all 😖 I’d left in the microwave to cool and forgot it, that will teach me! And dog wouldn’t wake up to go out, so I’ll not get to sleep in as she’ll probably wake up in half an hour…which has stopped me dropping back to sleep as I’m waiting for it.Today will be driving dog (or she’ll nag and nag), avoiding housework apart from washing and cooking and hopefully playing with my material and/or jigsaw.
I hope you all have a lovely day filled with all the good things you deserve 📚🍫☕️🧁Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

I hope everyone has enjoyed their Monday like Tuesday 🤣
I had a really busy work day, but am settling in ready for…biscuit week.I’m just watching the riot in Leicester on the news…shocking 😕 I just don’t understand why people feel the need to do this. I go through life thinking we have a peaceful integrated country, but clearly not 😢

I sometimes wonder if the whole country is on drugs because lets face there is a lot of "not normal" behaviour going on everyday. Whilst I am getting older, they are making me feel really old & you don't start feeling that in just a few short years.

Leicester is a neighbouring county to me and a lot of my work colleagues live there so it’s very scary. There seem to be a breed of people who think they’re above the law and do exactly what they want with no regard for consequences. Don’t get me started on kids who know they’re untouchable 🤬There’s no respect anymore.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

@badmemory, me too with feeling old. The not normal behaviour is puzzling. Such a lot of it!@Sun_Addict yes to the lack of respect. The fear of smacking was quite enough to keep kids in line when I was little, it didn’t need to happen, we just needed to know it could. (Disclaimer…I’m not talking brutality 😬)It’s like we are going backwards instead of forwards. Did we reach a peak of schooling, healthcare and available housing and are now tumbling down the other side? All of a sudden it feels like bad behaviour can’t be dealt with too…the poor police seemed outnumbered and clearly unable to arrest them all.Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien
