A new kitten @nannygladys. I’m very jealous of your daughter!
The slugs are still here. I haven’t seen any for a while but keep seeing evidence around the kitchen base boards in a morning…bleaurgh! We don’t see any wood louse here, but I used to get them in Yorkshire.
I don’t have anything exciting to report today, apart from Royal Mail sending my tracked parcel further south instead of north by accident grrrrr. They sent it from Newcastle to York, so I expect I won’t receive it on Thursday after all, sigh!
I hope you are all having a lovely day. 🌞☕️📚

I had a bit of a day on Thursday. nipped into the kitchen after lunch, slipped on a wet patch next to the pet dish and managed to stop my fall by face planting into the edge of the very sharp door frame 😕 I saw stars and now have a spectacular purple black eye and a v shaped dent on my eyebrow. I went back to work, as you do, and it gradually went from slightly discoloured, but very sore to just technicolour purple with shades of black…sigh!
And my spending is still out of control as I ordered more pet food yesterday and today, along with some much needed wine 😬. The unexpected car bill set me on a slippery spending slope. I hope to do a lot better in September. I will/should still end the month slightly better than last month, but a long way off what it should have been.

  • Oh WW hope you are feeling much better from your fall it sounds dreadful.  It must have been the week for them I fell on Tuesday, not sure what happened one minute I was up the next I was lying on my side flat out! talk about a sack of spuds falling!! only bruised shoulder and ribs and I didn't fall on the bag of tomatoes I was delivering to a neighbour so that was a bonus!  Sounds to me your spending was on essentials, pet food definately and wine is essential to heal a black eye!  have a lovely relaxing weekend x

  • Thanks both. It was a shock for sure! One minute I was upright and the next I was bouncing off the edge of the doorframe with my face. And of course it wasn’t a nicely rounded frame, it was a really sharp corner. I’ve now gone a very bright purple. @Four_Seasons I hope your ribs are ok and well done on saving the tomatoes. @beanielou perhaps you could give us some tips on landing?  Mine was most definitely something Mr Bean could have been been proud of and if anyone had been there they would have laughed before picking me up 🤣 I just had this stunned minute where I stood frozen holding my face while I worked out what had happened and made sure my brain wasn’t on the outside 😬

Thanks @jwil….I need to call it a slip, as fall makes me feel 40 years older 😅
Each morning my eyelid is swollen up, but it’s much like an eye infection in that the tears must swell it up overnight and then it gets less through the day as I’m blinking. The purple is getting deeper at the edges, almost black and psychedelic in the middle. I’m very, very colourful and very hard to miss! I wonder how long it will be before it starts fading? It hurts when I prod it or make big expressions, but not otherwise.
Yesterday I made flapjack and read a bit and wandered aimlessly around the house. I think I need a project to keep me busy!
I hope you all have a lovely Sunday ☕️📚🍫🧁

Sounds painful! Hope it heals quickly for you.

Amused me that I have been busy all week with no time to read but had given some thought to an air fryer, and here you all are talking about them..

    Dehydrating:
beef jerky in the oven was lovely but a lot of effort for half an hours eating.  I suspect the answer is to buy some RTC pre-marinated steak and try that.
sweet apples dried into rings are lovely - nicer in the oven than in the machine imho.

The key thing for me was trying the graze boxes, I realised i don't like the wetter end of the dried fruits, over dried crispy is much better.  Graze soggy dried bananas are foul, shop bought crispy dried bananas are lovely and crunchy but calorific.  It wasnt my technique that was wrong, I just don't like soft dehydrated fruit.

@redofromstart maybe that’s it…I was expecting dehydrated fruit to be sweet like the pre packaged, crystallised version. I thought apple would be like the bags of apple crisps you can buy, but I just can’t get that consistency 😕 I’m liking my ninja though!!
I took dog for her Sunday drive. I was thinking I could give it a miss, but she said not! She always knows exactly what day it is.
