I lost 3 1/2 stone with SW some year's ago but have put most if it back on since the first lockdown, I ate for comfort, I was on my own, worried and all the rest.... I went for my yearly check up at the doctors last week and it was 'suggested' I need to lose the weight, so I have to back once a month to get weighed there!! Unfortunately SW is too expensive for me but I still have my old books so been trying to get inspiration from them. Good luck with the weight loss WW.

I spent rather a lot….unsupervised I tell you! 🤣 I got a big hydrangea for the pot on the outside step (which had a dead twig in it),  2 very restrained cans of pink Prosecco and equal bottles of MrWW’s tipple of choice. Then meat and veg and syn free spices and sugar free jelly and options hot choc for emergencies.I got two little pots of coriander and parsley, just because they seemed happier than plastic packets for the fridge. I had a couple of eggs for brunch, scrambled, because I couldn’t think of anything fancy, but true to my odd life I had to also do one for dog, she has licked bits of scrambled egg all over the room and now I have to pick it all up…meanwhile in the kitchen a certain small cat is treating my new herb pots like the swankiest salad bar he’s ever seen. Grazing from one to the other while he ponders which he prefers…

@nannygladys I do it on line as I’m not one for public humiliation, but I found following the books without having to log the weigh in was really hard. I’m hoping the accountability will help, and the access to the recipes is useful…but I know there are lots online for free. My trouble  is I want quick and easy, yet sw quick and easy is bland and boring. There are some lovely things to make, but you have to put the effort in…I haven’t much effort to give 😬

  • That's a beautiful cat @WinterWarrior - how kind of you to do a cat salad bar too
I have been to the library, SM for lots of F&V and bought wash up liquid from the zero waste shop.  I also bought some treats for the weekend.
I think i'm going to have some vegan weeks as i ate much better during veganuary.  I have nearly run out of cheese and not buying anymore for now.  The artisan market was on but i resisted buying a beans and cheese pie - it did look delicious though .....

@WinterWarrior what sort of quick and easy things do you like?  I'm sure there are ways of making them tasty rather than bland.  It's amazing what a difference a bit of spice or some herbs make to something simple.

Do you have a slow cooker you could use to batch cook things like curry or chilli which you could then freeze in portions and get one out in the morning to reheat for your evening meal?  Even though I'm retired I still like to batch cook and freeze portions.  In fact this week I think I'm only cooking a couple of times, and one of those is today!  It's beef bourguignon for dinner tonight, half of which will go in the fridge for Monday night's dinner rather than frozen because I had planned on cooking a roast beef dinner tomorrow including a SW friendly yorkie (1 syn each!) but going to a friends instead so no LOs for Monday!

Everything else is coming from the freezer for the main component.  The only other cooking will be making the batter for a toad in the hole towards the end of the week.

@nannygladys - you could always come and join us over on the SW board (https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6348022/tighten-your-belt-with-sw-tighten-your-belt-with-sw#latest) to help you stay accountable if that would help.

Sorry WW for taking your thread off track!

@Deni_debt-free_dreamer the small cat is 7, but half the size of the others and considers himself a permanent kitten…a bit like Nermal in Garfield. I will expect some coriander garnished barf later 🤣
It sounds like you’ve had a nice busy day.
@joedenise I love everyone joining in my thread..derail away 😁 You all make it such a happy chatty place and I appreciate you all being here. I second the sw board for @nannygladys. I’ve only just joined in and everyone is lovely.
I do have a slow cooker. I’ve never made an sw curry though, whenever I look at recipes I always seem to be missing one or two key ingredients..and for sw there are always so many. I have some lamb (very rare as it’s normally just chicken here as MrWW is a bit fussy with anything he has to chew for some reason) and I was wondering if I could hash together some kind of kebab style thing to have in whole meal pitta with actifry chips. I have some piri piri seasoning so could maybe use that and plain yoghurt to make it kebabish 🤣

You definitely can make a kebab style thing in a wholemeal pitta!  In fact I'm planning on doing chicken breast skewers on a bed of onions and peppers this week.  The pittas you can have are only the mini ones so not very big at all.  The soft pittas are bigger and although I haven't tried them they are apparently very good - they are 7.5 syns if you don't use them as HEB.  If you do decide to do the kebab thing don't forget some vegetables for Speed.

You can always ask these sorts of questions on the SW thread as there is usually someone around who will be able to help.

Your cat looks just like my older cat. The younger cat eats coriander, you’d think it wouldn’t appeal to cats but obviously it does.
