I like to knit in front of the TV in the winter time but I can only manage scarves and squares, I knit a scarf for 8yo every Christmas but I can't read knitting patterns to save my life! I'm branching out a little more this year as am at home. I think it's a good investment @WinterWarrior. When I've seen fancy squares on Pinterest they are so pretty!

My Mum taught me to knit when I was young. She was never without a pair of needles in her hands. I've not knitted since I was about 16 and doubt I'd remember any of it now.

Have you heard the news about AJ having to pull out of Strictly due to injuries @WinterWarrior ? I bet that's messed up tomorrow's schedule. What a shame.

wow @CRANKY40, i'm envious of your skill !
i used to be able to knit & i can crochet when supervised by one of my creative siblings.  But they live too far away to be of much help I would like to be able to do something creative as a contrast to daily life of being a slave to my laptop

I tried knitting when I was little, but couldn’t master casting off or on and could barely manage a dreadful kind of dishcloth 😖 It put me off! 

I’m also a slave to my laptop and iPad…only stopping for food and kindle time 🤣 I loved quilting, but it takes over the dining room and can’t be done anywhere else. I’m hoping crochet can be done in front of the tv sitting on the sofa or in bed without too much fuss 😬
@Sun_Addict I saw! Poor AJ. She wasn’t my favourite to win, but it’s sad that she can’t be in the final and will make it shorter and weirder with only 2 left!

It's not clever, it's all maths. This is one of the easiest crochet blankets that I've ever made and it looks harder than it is

I've made it a good few times. The trick is to stop it every time you do a bit so that you don't lose track if you're doing it for the first time. It only uses two different stitches and chains.

which are easier than the granny square ones. I've made lots because I made them for a few people then other people saw them and wanted one too. I've just finished one for the HT's partner as a Christmas present.
