Good morning and happy Thursday 🍫📚🎄☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️I’m not sleeping very well so I’m tired 😴, but I’m sure I’ll be fine once I get going. Just 5 working days left until my Christmas holidays and about 10 working days of work to fit in!Beanie has reminded me that I need to sort out a donation of Christmas food.I usually do an online Christmas child shoebox and then add some food to the trussel trust collection each Christmas, then just do a direct debit monthly donation to an animal charity all year. This yr I’ve done the shoebox, but haven’t done the food donation yet. I’m planning to donate to a local place instead of trussel this time, as they do a pay what you can cafe and are also rustling up ‘no questions asked’ food parcels for Christmas. I like the idea that people can get a drink and a snack or meal, a kindly chat and not pay anything at all if times are very hard. It does work on a level of trust that people will pay when they can, but it seems to work very well. I follow all their posts, but due to my working hours have never been around when they’re open. I need to make the effort on Saturday morning. It will scupper my no spend plans, but I’ll feel better once it’s done.
I hope you all have a wonderful Thursday filled with happy things….don’t forget Santa is watching 🎅🏻🤶🎄📚🍫☕️Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

Morning. Another one here with more work to do than days to do it in. I can't wait to log off next Thursday and forget it all until next year. At work we had a food bank cupboard to put donations in and every so often someone would load up their car and take it all to a local food bank. I try to remember to pick up something when I go to the big Mr Ts and put it in their collection box, but forget sometimes. The cafe is a fabulous idea, how lovely for someone who needs it to be able to get something to eat/drink without worrying about the cost.
Have a great day and don't forget Santa is watching you too 😆I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)3 -
Morning
Full on here too - got an eve meeting tonight then no more meetings or mixing with work colleagues till 4 Jan, hoorah!!
I bought a toy for a local community support group who are collecting for 100s of local primary school children to make sure they get a present on 25 Dec. Have been putting items in the foodbank collection point too. Someone on another thread who volunteers in a foodbank said some people only have a kettle so those pasta packets are a good option for them; that hadn't occured to me
I got a tree yesterday from Tosco; it's small - i won't need my usual 2 sets of lights! Oh well, at least i finally got one. Also filled up with petrol but won't be going far so should last a while. Think i might brave a SM after my meeting in the hopes it'll be quiet at 10pm (& well stocked)

I think we must have read the same thing Deni. I always thought it would be something along the lines of adult & 2 kids, which is the sort of thing I have always given. I am now reviewing. It just shows how lucky we are, it hadn't really occurred to me that someone would have absolutely no cooking facilities at all. It makes you see that when things are feeling bad that really it is only a minor hiccup.

There are a lot of single men referrals. Good morning and happy Friday 🎄🎅🏻📚🍫☕️ At last!Today is mad busy and we have a ‘fun’ Christmas team call and quiz this afternoon that I just don’t have time for…but I have my Christmas jumper on in readiness to look engaged and joiny 🤣 hopefully the jumper will take focus from my cross and stormy face 😡😬
I spent money yesterday (I know beanie, I know 😢) and ordered some crochet hooks, cheap wool and a how to do fancy squares book for about £30. I am hoping this is something I can learn to do in front of the tv on an evening instead of spending on line. I can’t just watch tv without something else going on too, whether that’s internet scrolling or jigsaw or whatever. I concentrate better that way. MrWW use to try to catch me out, asking if I was watching and I could always tell him exactly what was happening (unless it’s something really dull and then I zone out) 🤣 Anyway today is a no spend day…it absolutely is!
That’s interesting about the single men referrals beanie…I always expect most to be young families or single parents. The pay what you can place is helpfully closed on Saturday this week, open Mon and Tues when I’m at work and then closed until new year! I shall have to have a rethink! It’s same with the food bank, they open odd weekdays for a few hours for donations, but anyone working who could donate can’t get there.I hope you all have a wonderful Friday, please do stop by and tell me what you are getting up to 😁☕️📚🎄🎅🏻Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

Morning WinterWarrior and friends
I've been awake since just after 5amHave put out the bins/recycling; put washing in & am cleaning the fridge - doing a bit every hour or so as a break from my laptop. Friday afternoon meetings are the worse even if they are supposed to be fun ! I had my 3rd and final meeting of the week last night but we didn't have the right number of people so couldn't actually have the meeting! Quite annoying but glad i got them to agree to pay mileage as it was 2 hours for nothing otherwise
This is my PT job where i'm only paid 10 hours a month.
I want to learn to crochet! I have hooks and wool and a book and a DVD. There is someone who teaches 1:1 and it is £30 for 6 sessions; maybe i should make that a Xmas present to myself...
Me too, assumed the foodbank would want big packets of everything for families but now i've found out they do have a lot of single people i have been donating small jars of coffee or an 80 pack of tea bags.
Roll on hometime (well i'm already at home but you know what i mean

@Deni_debt-free_dreamer there is a a lady on YouTube called Melanie Ham from America who taught me how to quilt. She also does crochet so I’ll be having a look there first. She’s been ill, which is such a shame. Her tutorials are very good. I’ve never been able to knit so crochet could be good or could be dreadful 😬
You’ve been really busy.

I can crochet. I find some of the patterns harder to follow than knitting patterns .....but not impossible. Youtube is good to watch. I made this a while back for a friend.
