Another option is to try 'PADding'.  Making a payment a day to your debts or savings.  I do this daily and the small amounts really add up.  I send £1 a day to the mortgage (plus any extra I get from surveys etc) and then send any odd pennies or £1 to my savings account.
Thanks jwil (I love how my spellcheck always tries to change you to jail 😬). I try to do the zero budget thing, but could do this from my allocated spends (when I have any left…next month 😢) or from surveys. I do have £3.60 in prolific so I’ll try and get that to a fiver and shuffle it down, thank you.
I haven’t attempted mortgage overpayments, so I’m not sure how mine would work. We pay ours equally and I have a plan to up both our contributions next year when MrWW has cleared his loans. It’s a relatively high payment as we both started again from scratch together, so had a shorter time frame for payments. We have 10 years left and it would be really good to shave a year or two off that.
😁  I clearly chose a nice sensible user name!

I just got the account details for my mortgage and started paying by bank transfer.  It doesn't affect my monthly payment, and comes off the balance.  I'm not on a fixed rate deal though so there's no penalties for any overpayments I make.  I can see my account online which helps.

@jwil mine is fixed for 5 years (just done a few months ago) and I believe there is an amount I can overpay before it upsets anything (maybe one extra payment a year off the top of my head…I will have to investigate).

On the many meetings front, a relative of mine has just switched to working for Natwest and she said that she "loves" that they have a mandatory 2 meetings a day (9am and then lunch) to 'check in with everyone' that's before any other meetings in their individual teams get added. Sounds like a nightmare to me! I couldn't stand tjat level of oversight.

Our mortgage is on a fixed rate we are not limited to the number of payments but we have a maximum amount we can overpay per year without incurring fees.

Good morning and happy Thursday ☕️⭐️🍫
just 2 working days until the weekend. I have booked Monday off as flexi, but it’s not been approved yet. I have nothing to do, but really, really want a day off!
I finished one of my free kindles. It was very short so only took a couple of days. It was ok, I may buy the rest at some point, but it wasn’t so good that I was desperate for the next. It was called Ink Witch. I ended up starting rereading the 99p Sharpe, even though I planned to read more free ones and wanted to do all the sharpes in order…the temptation was too much to see him win his eagle again!
The diet has totally gone out of the window again this week, it’s like if I’m not spending I have to be eating instead! I’m still on track for the full no spend week though 😁
Thank you all for the updates on mortgage overpayments yesterday. I think mine does allow the equivalent of a months extra payment a year (or around that), but I’ll dig out the paperwork. I like the idea of sending a few pounds over.
I hope you all have a wonderful Thursday, filled with optimism, coffee and all good things 🌸☕️🍫

If you like Bernard Cornwall's Sharpe books have you read his Warlord Chronicles? Hands down my favourite book trilogy in the planet.

I have Kakiste. Sharpe are my favourite (my paperback copies are falling to bits, so I hope to eventually replace them all on kindle. I don’t think I’ve read anything of his I haven’t truly enjoyed. The characters are so real, the battles are epic and you get totally sucked in to the stories 🥰 I remember being quite sad when Sean bean was cast as Sharpe for tv because he didn’t fit the description…but quickly took to him 😋

Happy Thursday WW :) Well done on the NSD's. Have all your lovely treats arrived? I've just read a book and the copyreader must have had their mind on other things the amount of mistakes I spotted! Hope your day off is approved and you get your long weekend.

Haha, you have reminded me about the book I just fished…she didn’t have someone’s number and used a business card for the number to call them, but then looked at their name saved on her phone screen when she was talking to them 🤣. It’s the little glitches that really annoy.
Most goodies have arrived, but the Maltesers are still awol!
My day has been approved 😁 thank you for checking ⭐️
I hope you have a good day.
