@jwil we clearly need to start a campaign…I wonder if the BBC would get involved? A few nice little tag lines like ‘save our lunch’ or ‘food has feelings too’ and we’ll be sorted 😁Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

@dawnybabes excellent 😁 perhaps we could change it to ‘money has feelings too’, so I feel bad about using it 🤣Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

Good morning and happy Wednesday ☕️🍫🌺
almost half way through the week, yay. After lunch it’s all down hill to the weekend 😁
I am still aiming for that elusive no spend week. It’s teaching me things…for instance I didn’t realise how boring it is checking the bank and seeing nothing has changed! As I was agreeing on another thread, it can’t go up until payday, so there’s no hope of a positive change apart from once a month. It’s seeming that even the negative changes were ‘something’. Monitoring them going out, worrying about it going down, snatching back some savings to cover things…it was all activity! Spending absolutely nothing and watching everything stay the same is hard work. I need to get used to this being the new norm. I have a spreadsheet for my overall savings projections, which includes savings accounts, Monzo and pb’s, so I keep tweaking the future monthly amounts just for something to do! I need to be quite savings intense to get to my first goal by Christmas. I think I’ve said before that my hope/aim is to save back the money I used to pay off the loans by July next year…that way I can have not ‘wasted it’ on debt.Anyway, that’s enough money moaning for today! What are you all up to?
I hope you have wonderful happy days (with no lunchtime meetings) ⭐️🌸☕️Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

Happy Wednesday ☺️So you feel like you’re doing something with money more often than once a month, could you have a weekly budget and move anything that’s left over at the end of the week into savings? I do this with my grocery budget, fresh amount on a Monday, any leftovers go to savings on Sunday.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)3

@Sun_Addict that’s an excellent suggestion. As you know, August ran away with me at the beginning, so there’s nothing to play with, but for September I will try to do this with my ‘pocket money’. My half of the grocery consists of all the pet food and some regular orders, which I bulk buy at the beginning , so I don’t have a grocery spend as such, but I do have my self assigned pocket money, which I use some of for buying extras like fancy pop, sweets, etc. All the nice to haves, but not necessary bits. I will try again splitting down to weekly spends….you are quite right, it will give me chance for some positive money saving each week ⭐️

Another option is to try 'PADding'. Making a payment a day to your debts or savings. I do this daily and the small amounts really add up. I send £1 a day to the mortgage (plus any extra I get from surveys etc) and then send any odd pennies or £1 to my savings account."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". We pay ours equally and I have a plan to up both our contributions next year when MrWW has cleared his loans. It’s a relatively high payment as we both started again from scratch together, so had a shorter time frame for payments. We have 10 years left and it would be really good to shave a year or two off that. Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien
