    Thanks @beanielou.
I do hope they get easier. It’s frightening how easy unconscious spending is 😖

Good morning and happy bank holiday ☀️
I may finish cleaning the kitchen today as still need to wipe down the cupboards and do the floor. We have a delivery coming this afternoon so won’t be going out, out 😖 Luckily have the rest of the week off on leave, so all is not lost! I really must tidy my office at some point too, it’s a bit of a dumping ground for all the random stuff that doesn’t have a home.
I have already put 3 things in my basket and then saved for later...I’ve only been awake for under an hour 😖
2 NSD’s so far this month, I’m trying for 3 in a row.
Enjoy your bank holiday everyone 🧁

When I'm browsing on amazon or elsewhere (which I try not to do often), I add stuff I like to my wishlist and then leave it there.  I try and earn the money for it from surveys etc so that I don't spend my 'own' money.  Quite often, once I go back to review my list, I decide I don't want it that much anyway and remove it again.  It's worth trying to wait a while with impulse purchases, and I agree, it does get easier, although I do still indulge sometimes!

The instant gratification of purchasing is sometimes hard to resist, but I know sometimes by the time an item arrives I’ve forgotten I ordered it or I’m not bothered by it any more. It’s like the actual purchasing is more fun than the item itself! So I agree that waiting is best! I keep in my saved for later though, if I add to my wish list and then forget about it I run the risk of MrWW treating me to something I no longer want 😖
For the first time ever I have set myself a weekly pocket money amount, after reading some excellent posts on here, and have £50 a week set aside just for me (this includes any non essential spending for house bits & pieces, not just books and chocolate 😬). This seems to be working as I don’t want to waste it. At the end of each week I will tidy any remaining into a savings pot.

I keep a separate spending pot just for me and in normal times have a day in the city centre, sometimes I go to a different city on the train. I love making a proper day of it, coffee first, then hit the shops, stop off for a leisurely lunch before heading home, sometimes tie it in with meeting up with friends for lunch. Online shopping just isn’t the same.

That sounds lovely. Have you built up this pot over lockdown for a massive splurge, or used it for other things?
My nearest city is a 5 hour round trip, so even in normal times it’s mostly on line or a few local independent shops.

I’ve got £200 in my shopping pot but haven’t been adding much to it during lockdown as I’ve been buying things for the house. I won’t have a big splurge it will fund several small trips. I enjoy the coffee and lunch aspect of it more then the actual shopping. I feel like I’ve forgotten how to shop for anything other than food but I’m sure I’ll soon get back into the swing of it 😆

Yes, I have a separate private wishlist for that stuff, and a public wishlist for people to buy me stuff from.  A weekly pocket money amount is the way to go though :)

Great news on the NSD'S and mortgage. We recently managed to change our fixed rate and shaved about £50 off too.

Thanks @Naomim...heading into the end of NSD3. I can’t quite believe it 🤣
I purchased another free kindle book - I think that’s helping.
also scrubbed the kitchen cupboard doors down, vacuumed the bits off the floor (but didn’t mop it) and did some crafting and some reading. We’ve been waiting for a delivery today (still not here), so at least there was no real shop temptation.
I was reading on m*msnet about someone who’s child had wracked up £6k on their cc buying Xbox in game purchases...those poor people 😮it’s so scary that it could happen so easily. Another reason to check banking every single day I guess.
