I didn't watch Anne with an E but you've reminded me that I wanted to. I'm not good at remembering things to watch. I wanted to go to the Chalet School too and I've just made contact again with the only other person at my primary school that read Chalet School books.
Have you read Hilary Mantel's books? I have them to work my way through....2 -
I read Wolf Hall and Bring up the Bodies when they were on tv. They were good, but I haven’t tried any of her others. Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

Hi WW
Thought I'd pop over to say hello and seem to have found myself in a book club, which is brilliant
I watched Anne with an E and really enjoyed it. I read the book when I was younger and I also loved the Laura Ingalls books. Showing my age now, but I remember at primary school we used to have a weekly library lesson and I'd get them from there.
Anyway, I've subscribed and look forward to reading your diary. x3 -
Hi @teafor2, so lovely to see you here 🌸😁
I run a random diary, we’ve had biscuits, slippers, tv, books, dogs, seagulls, money saving..you name it 😁
Welcome to today’s book club! I didn’t read the Laura Ingalls books. I did go through a big Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys phase.Did anyone read and watch A Discovery of Witches? I enjoyed those. Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

Yes I enjoyed A Discovery of Witches. Loved Biggles, Laura Ingalls Wilder, Chalet School, L M Montgomery - could go on and on.Recently really enjoyed Jodi Taylor. I've also enjoyed some Sarah J Maas but thought recent ones were more racy than plot driven.4

I’ve been an avid reader all my life. Currently have around 85 books in my bookcase waiting to be read. I dip in and out of genres but my favourites are CL Taylor and Harlan Coban for thrillers and Santa Montefiore for something a bit lighter (but often a bit sad). I tend to get through one a week. Currently reading Saving Sophie by Sam Carrington (thriller) which is very good so far.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2

I’ve read a few Sarah J Maas and Harlan Coban. I’m not against a bit of YA either, absolutely love Suzanne Collins and Cassandra Clare. I had a big Jeffrey Deaver/Lincoln Rhyme phase and was so disappointed when they miscast everyone for the Bone Collector film! When they start switching sexes and races and no one looks as you imagined it all seems so wrong. Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

Another avid reader here and lots I recognise from the posts above of my favourite books like Lucinda Riley, Harlan Coben, BA Paris, CL Taylor, Robert Goddard and Linwood Barclay. I loved Little House on the Prairie when I was a kid and my daugher has the whole collection of chalet school books and the Ann of Green Gable/What Katy did as her comfort reading in her bedroom. Lighter reads are usually books about Devon/Cornwall by Santa Montefiore or Liz Fenwick both of which have done book signings in my local book shop.
I am currently going through old books to see if I can get rid of any as I have no room to store any more books so I do the same as clothes and use the one in one out rule.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards.
