Welcome aboard Moneyowen 👋 I have added you to the chart do you want to set a target for the rest of the challenge? Sorry I can't offer any advice with what to eat to help lower cholesterol but it looks like 2CM2 has provided a useful site. I can sympathise about the thyroid issues I'm on daily tablets for mine and after nearly 15 years it stills seesaws up and down
Sorry to hear the legs are bad again Dumpling just take care of yourself and let your lovely family look after youI find the trouble with comfort eating is it only gives temporary comfort whilst you're eating it and then you feel worst afterwards
After being really good this challenge I've had a bit of a 'oh s*d it day' today thanks to work related stuff so I'm sitting wondering where I put the rennie and determined to go back to behaving tomorrowLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin7 -
moneyowen said:Hi, can I join please. I’ve just been diagnosed with high cholesterol 6.4 and my doctor has threatened to put me on statins unless I lower it in 6 months. I’m currently 11stone 13lbs. Thank you I’m really worried about it,moneyowen said:2childmum2 said:Also - the one easiest anti-cholesterol food is the little pots of yoghurt fortified with sterols/stanols - there are brand ones but the supermarkets (including aldi and Lidl) do their own - quick and easy and one pot provides all you need (so much easier than using the spread etc) They can lower your cholesterol by 10%
Also - do you know the amount of the different types of cholesterol? Read up about it on the website above. Although my total cholesterol is quite high, the ratio between the 'good' and the 'bad' is ok, so my cardiologist wasn't too worried about it and didn't want to put me on statins (which my GP did). May not be relevant to you, and I am still eating to lower cholesterol, but might be worth just being aware.
I too have high cholesterol - possibly lower than it was because I have lost a lot of weight but still considered high, though the "good" to "bad" is favourable. My GP suggested statins years ago but I declined. They can't force you to take medication to reduce something which your body needs. I am hypothyroid too (75mcg levothyroxine) but no problem with gluten.
At 5' 3", at one time I was obese (13 st 13 lb - 34.5 BMI) and am now 8 st 10 lb (21.6 BMI). Though that is in the middle of the "healthy" range, I have put on some pounds recently and why I am posting here while I attempt to lose 10 lb (1 lb achieved so far) while still being well within that range. I didn't gain the excess weight overnight and so I lost it quite slowly too but I'm responding to say it is possible to improve despite threats of statins and hypothyroidism.7 -

Morning All,
As you can probably guess from my lack of posting, this challenge is going about as well as the last one. I still haven't been brave enough to step on the scales but I have at least made the decision that I'm going to start properly on Monday. I'll just try to follow Monna's eating for now advice until then and not do my usual trick of stuffing everything in the house in anticipation of starting a diet.
Dumpling Sorry you're poorly again and I hope the antibiotics do the trick. I know exactly what you mean about comfort eating not actually bringing any comfort but it's still a hideously difficult habit to break.
Best of luck and stay safe everyone xx8 -
Well a little bit has already rattled off, but aargh this is the same LB 's I just can't seem to shift.
Last night was lots of veggies for dinner, and may it continue.

I think I've STS but it's difficult to tell at the moment: weight is fluctuating 1.5 to 2 lb from morning to morning... if the postman ever arrives, I shall go and buy some old school mechanical scales.‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’ David Lynch.

Hello all, calling in to report a 2lb loss this week. My friend that I've joined SW with also lost 2 lbs so I guess we'll be going next week too. I've told her that as long as she makes an effort I will take her.
Fingers crossed that the antibiotics do their stuff dumpling
Izadora you can do this.
Take care all of you9 -
Hello All
-2lb off for me but keep those purple devils near Brambling as it's hubbies birthday today and there will be Chinese later and cake after that! I am allowing myself today and then back to it tomorrow. I follow Slimming World too Cranky but no longer attend class, just follow along at home but feel in a bit in a rut at the moment, hence considering intermittent fasting along with it I'm worried that my rumbling tummy at work might be a little distracting for my work mates and customer though 😄
Dumpling sorry you are feeling poorly again, hope the antibiotics kick in and you feel better soon x
