Allocated parking. Neighbour’s been using our parking space

Get a retractable post in there. Problem solved.3

Rent the space out and let them know they can have first dibs. If they continue to park there when you are renting it out you can enact enforcement and if you have proof bill them for the time they have parked there for free.0

Did they stop last time after you had left the wheelie bin there? What has made them start again ?0

Could you rent out your space until you get your own car? If there is a lack of parking then it might be an option....then you can advise your neighbour that your space is being rented out so it needs to be left vacant for that person. I know this might not be a plausibile option due to covenants etc - but might be worth looking in to.0

Have you spoken to the management company or freeholder? Someone consistently parked in my space because I didn't have a car and refused to stop even though I needed the space for visitors/deliveries. I didn't know who owned the car so left polite notes. One day my visitor parked in the neighboring space and the neighbor went ballistic. During the 'exchange' the neighbors wife came out and we discovered that it was actually her car in our space. Apparently it was fine for her to use our spot but not for us to use theirs! They rationalised it by saying that they used/needed our space more than we did so it belonged to them. Our lease said different so the management company for our building stepped in and smoothed things over. I think they threatened the neighbors with parking fines if they didn't stop. People get weirdly possessive over parking spots even if they don't have any right to park there.
After repeated problems we came to an agreement with our concierge where he used our parking spot most of the time but would park elsewhere if we were having people over.3 -
You need to occupy your space with something.0

Always amazes me people have the nerve to utilise others allocated spaces on purpose. (I can understand visitors not knowing parking arrangements or if they aren't marked and look like first come first served spaces)
I can't imagine they would park on a neighbours driveway and I just can't see the difference. Both owned both a nuisance.3 -
So let me get this straight...you're annoyed because somebody is using your parking space, which you don't need or use because you don't have a car?
People get worked up over the most bizarre things.
When you get a car, worry about it then. Until that time comes, this is just pettiness.1 -
Hi. Thank you all for your comments and feedback. We live in a new build development, I might contact the management company and raise the issue about the parking. Thank you for the suggestion. Also, yes it is annoying for us because our parking space is at the very front of our house! It’s an eyesore since it’s not our car! Theirs is just beside ours why can’t they use their own? All day long I can see their car in our spot whilst their own space is free. Aside from that there are plenty of visitors and unallocated parking space in our street. If they just ask us politely we wouldn’t mind since after all we don’t have a car yet. But clearly they think they can just do whatever they want and use other people’s space!Anyway, the wheelie bin is still out and it will stay there until we make sure that they know that that space is ours (or at least until the site manager ask us to remove it. Lol.).0
