But in all of this you can only go by a small sample of people you know well enough to know their sexual history, 
I can go by some school friends that had quite a reputation for their promiscuity and most of which have remained single, but was it the promiscuity or underlying reasons for their promiscuity the reason for them still being single 20 years later? I'd argue that for them it's not the number of notches on the bed post but issues that run far deeper.

I have no  idea of any of my neighbours or colleagues past but I bet even the long term married ones have some tales to tell

On the other hand, one friend had slept with 20 men by 19, because she just enjoyed sex, and being young free and single, she's been happily married for nearing on 20 years and her sexual past is not relevant to who she is today. Her husband is very bright, well educated and a high earner so certainly not taking all he could get. 

I do have a dislike of how dating apps can be manipulated and prey on some women's vulnerabilities but as someone else pointed out online dating just makes it more visible. 

Actions will nearly always have a consequence and impact on future lives, it doesn't have to be sex related but many will grow up and move on with their lives and never look back or have cause to look back at some of their "mistakes"

So in your first point you discount that multiple people you know who slept around are now single but that isn't the reason then in your second point you use an example of one to prove the rule.
Single examples don't change the average.
If I translate your post, out of all the friends you know who slept around the majority are single with one friend being the exception to the rule.

I think it started early on when someone asked why people felt the need to spend so much on a wedding.

I'm not sure what the OP was looking for out of the thread which oddly was originally posted on the Loan board.

The OP asked 2 questions which were answered (correctly imho) in the very first reply.

But ignores the fact that the majority of people I know, I have zero knowledge on their sexual past and this probably applies to the vast majority of the population. So your generalisations prove nothing, same as my two observations prove nothing.

I think this thread had proven it's very easy to digress and there are some very judgemental people in this world.
