MovingForwards said:I got married in a Registry Office with 7 guests, picked my wedding dress up in a charity shop one lunch time when I was popped in just for something to do. The honeymoon was a weekend away.
When my fiancé and I marry it will also be in a RO. I will see what dresses the charity shop has, my OH will wear either his kilt or a suit he owns. I picked my shoes up in a sale at Debenhams a few years ago for £1. We will grab two people passing as witnesses, afterwards returning home as Mr and Mrs, letting friends and family know when we next contact them.5 -
I would have been happy to get married by post if it were possible. It was my husband who always liked any excuse for a big do.
We had 2 witnesses and my mother at the registry office. And in the evening, a meal for local friends and relatives - it didn't seem fair to invite people to come a distance just for a meal. Some did complain about not being asked though.
Total spend was about £500, in the 1980s.0 -
@Pollycat I always thought it was something that only happens in films, but it can be done up here. I've a nice local RO, with a backdrop people would pay thousands for. Maybe I should give you a heads up 😁Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.1

Not sure when it will be as there's a few things with higher priority we're doing first, but it would be an honour to have you passing by 🤗Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.1 -

A man at work younger than me, openly admits that he sees online dating apps essentially as a catalogue, he won't commit or make an effort to see a woman exclusively just in case there is a prettier girl next week.
I hear a lot of "I'm not settling for less than perfect" without realising that they aren't perfect (no one is). They seem to set very tall orders and have high expectations of a relationship and a partner should be like, then wonder why no one meets their want list, I don't think some of them even consider what they bring to the table.
But I do think a lot of it is linked to social media and a relationship is just to help portray a perfect happy existence
I know men who have met in person and she's made them wait for sex, yet they know men that she has slept with on dating apps at the drop of a hat......and they think ''why do I have to make the effort when he didn't''
If you increase the supply of sex (and thats what dating apps have done) it decreases the value of the act.
These's apps are a curse on society and aren't there to create relationships.....why would a dating app trying to make money want the pool of potential customers to shrink?-1 -

We grabbed a couple of cleaners off the street, they had just finished work and were still in their tabards. They cried all the way through the ceremony, they told me they had never been to a wedding before. I think if you get anyone under 30 to open up honestly on the truth around dating apps then it opens your eyes to how people are seen on there, there's very little dating and more one off hook ups.
I know young women that have gone along with having sex just to get a "date" because that's what all the other women do.
Just hearing some of the conversations they have you can tell there's so much manipulation but they can't see it.
One woman I know had a very high opinion of herself and thought one evening with them and she'd have them begging for a long term relationship, the fact that she repeated this time and time again and remained single didn't seem to register that her theory was flawed.
I'm just glad that I missed the boat on the whole online datingMake £2023 in 2023 (#36) £3479.30/£2023
