Good morning. I would really like it if the pooch would let me sleep past 6am… he’s gotten into the habit of getting up then and whilst I’m ok with that in the week, it’s just not cricket on a weekend!

PADs counted, mine went to CC7. Only £2.50 but it soon mounts up.

There is a rumour at work that a 3% pay rise is coming this year. Last year we didn’t get one so I’m really hoping the rumour is true. I’m on a decent salary so it’ll be a noticeable difference on my monthly pay. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻

If it does materialise, the question is where it will go, debt or having a bit more of a life? The answer is most likely ‘energy bills and petrol pumps’ 😂

Enjoy your Saturdays, what ever you’re doing

    Good morning all

The PAD total was easy this morning as I was the only contributor yesterday, we are definitely looking a little thin on the ground.
Today will be a NSD and to be honest quite a lazy day aside from walking the dog.
My PAD was a bank round down to CC7, the statement hasn’t been generated yet, I keep checking though as it’s usually there before I get the email notification.
Nothing else to report, so enjoy your sunny Sunday’s!

  • Monday again and where has the sunshine gone? I even did some line-drying yesterday as it was such a lovely day.

Checked the bank this morning and Yorkshire Water must have done a meter read as they have refunded £126, I will probably use this towards birthday outings this month as we have a few low key events for friends birthdays.  Any remainder will go to the EF at the end of the month.

CC7 statement was generated this morning so my PAD was £100 plus a little bank round down.

I am starting to get very nervous about energy prices. One of my friends posted on social yesterday that her new quote was £500+ a month.  Out of curiosity, I did a quote based on our current usage and it came out at £653 a month!!!! That's almost as much as our mortgage, we only pay £170 at the moment for our energy so I'm not entirely sure what we will do.  We will be able to afford it, but it will mean debt repayments will be far less for both of us.

I can't quite get my head around the maths for the massive energy increase. I probably need to go find some of Martin's posts and videos to try and understand it, maths was never my strong suit!

It's another NSD for me today, I have a wine delivery coming later but I'm in a wine club so that comes out monthly DD and I order a couple of cases a year - nothing extravagant :D  Dinner tonight is batch cooked bolognese from the freezer.  We are out again tomorrow night for dinner after such a  good night last week with our friends, but it will be cheap and cheerful.

Busy day ahead, I perhaps should have gotten a jump on the cleaning yesterday when I got home but I wanted to enjoy my weekend fully so I ignored it all!

Wow. £653 a month. How much energy are you using?

With the upcoming increases in April ours will jump up to £130 a month from £95 a month which we thought was bad!!
  • I almost hit the floor when I saw the quote! We have a fixed hot tub in the garden which we use on a regular basis and it's been running since early September so that's where most of our electricity usage goes.  I think when we get to the end of our fixed tariff we will have to re-assess if we will keep it running as it seems an unnecessary luxury at the increased prices! The £170 covers it at the moment and I'm happy to keep it running at that price as we do get the benefits.

    @LittleMissDetermined

Its so scary isnt it?  Our Yearly gas and Electric are forecast at £3400 a year from April, in October 21 I was paying £155 a month.  I have been steadily increasing the DD each month for the last few months, DD is going upto £250, just paid £225!  Im really worried and I think with good cause.  The £200 rebate we will be getting in October from the Government is hoping that the following years prices will begin to drop, but with the war in Ukraine etc this is seriously going to delay any sort of recovery.

We too Live in Yorkshire area and have a hot tub, although with the news about energy we have packed ours up.  I loved it especially in the spring sunshine last year but needs must  :'(

  • Ours is a static one so we can’t pack it away, it’s a permanent fixture! We are fixed til the end of July so we will get some use in the summer before we have to turn it off.

Yeah, I get it. I do wish we could though as we would have a lot more space in the garden haha

  • Good morning! I was dreaming about bloody energy prices last night, and must have slept badly as I don't feel rested at all.

Made my PAD to CC7 and completed the counter-upper duties, a great total yesterday mainly thanks to you @shell16 :)

Today will not be a NSD, I am meeting a work colleague for lunch and we are out again to meet friends tonight. I also need to pop and do a top up shop of milk, bread and eggs.  Should be OK then until the weekend when I have plans with another friend on Saturday which I need to remember to get some cash out for.

Checked the credit scores this morning and there are no changes to the scores, I'm happy that they are stable given the Monzo account being opened and those pesky OH BT searches :D

I'm really pleased about the progress I have already made on CC7, but the next few months will be concentrating on repaying the car account.  There has still been no official news on the payrise, but the 3% doesn't seem so good now that I've had the energy price awakening :(

I've just downloaded the fuel price app as local prices are going a bit wild, an in some cases there's 20p a litre difference in price. As I'm out an about today I will fill up at the cheapest spot en-route.

Hope everyone has a lovely day, at least the sun is shining!
