Fingers crossed that the house move happens soon.
  • Thanks for the positive vibes.  If I don't hear from solicitors this morning I will give them a call this afternoon.  Constant chasing seems to be the norm for me.

I have decided that the only way I can take back some control is to crack on with packing up things we don't use on a day to day basis.  This way I can feel like I am still 'working on' our move without getting super-stressed out, now that the charity shops are open again, I can also drop any bits over I come across that we will no longer use/need.  This will definitely apply when I start rummaging and sorting more stuff.  I'm also going to make some location labels to make it easier for the removal men.

Not sure what the etiquette is with removal men - do I feed them?  They will be with us all of the day I'm assuming... I've never needed to use them before as this is the first time I am moving with a chain.

Think I have come away from this post with more actions/questions, but at least I have a renewed energy, positivity and purpose :D

    Toodles for now

So, after some research I think that drinks and snacks (biccies and crisps?) are acceptable and somewhat expected but I don't have to provide removal men with a chippy run at lunch.

The moving saga continues but after a really productive call with my solicitor this afternoon I feel much better and less out of control.  She also assured me that I will get at least a week's notice of the move date as that's how much notice they have to provide the mortgage company with to draw down the funds.  Phew!  That made me feel SO MUCH BETTER! I was envisaging packing up the house through the night :D

I have been continuing to make the additional payments to CC1 as PAD's and it's still making a difference, we still have a week to go 'til pay day too so that's another 6 payment of bank round downs being sent.  Would be great to get it under the £2k mark but I think that's being a little too optimistic!

I am putting off going to bed, as I feel I haven't done all I need to this evening yet. So I am off to do some sorting out and clearing before I head to bed.

Thank you everyone for you continued support :)

We started packing up our house to move as soon as we reserved the house, it was a new build. We knew it would be a quick move so we packed up all of the non essentials straight away and got them boxed up and labelled up with contents and the relevant room. Doing it this way meant we didn't have loads to do at the last minute.

In the end our move was very quick from reserving the plot to moving in took just 3.5 weeks. Part exchanging our old house made the move exceptionally quick.
  • 3.5 weeks sounds bloody heavenly!  Even if someone could say 3.5 weeks from today I'd be happy :D

I think packing up the items we don't use day to day is the way to go.  It gives me a bit of control and a purpose rather than just waiting around.

I am supposed to be getting an update today at the latest but who knows?

On the money front, I'm still chipping at that CC1 and it's great to see the balance coming down.  I'm looking forward to pay day this month, it's felt like a long one!

I think this month has flown by. Can't believe it is pay day next week already!!

3.5 weeks was mad. We didn't have time to get stressed about the move. It just happened before we knew it. It doesn't seem like two years ago now.  I don't know where this last couple of years has gone.
  • I've not moved since 2006 so I am out of practice! Time usually flies for me but I think because we are waiting for the move it feels slow this month.  Speaking of the move, nothing but radio silence yesterday, despite promises to the contrary...Starting to think Christmas will be here sooner than a move :D

Made another PAD this morning to CC1. It's getting closer to the £2k mark but I think my statement is due on Monday so it'll go up again with the interest. Only until pay day though, which is Thursday for me.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

  • Happy Monday fellow DFW-ers. It looks like it's doing to be a lovely day (although it changes within seconds at the moment)

Today will be a NSD for me, except for my PAD which saw £5 sent to CC1.  We have plenty of food in and are trying to run the cupboards and freezer down anyway before the move.  I have had the statement for CC1, but I've not added the interest/updated balance to my signature as I don't want to feel depressed about increasing figures :D and I know that I will be paying a decent amount off on Thursday to counteract the interest.

I have a couple of survey payments due this week, but I opted for Amazon vouchers rather than cash as I just keep my balance topped up.  It's all swings and roundabouts as that's £20 that would have come from the bank account otherwise.  Provided that DH doesn't spend it on tools before I get to use it :D

Plenty of jobs to do around working from home today, clean the living room, a load of laundry, sorting through and clearing clothes I don't want to keep to donate, walking the dog and cleaning out the coffee machine. Think hubby is off out into the peak district for the day.  Oh, and there will probably be some solicitor chasing in the mix too :D

Have a great day, whatever you have planned

Today has been another NSD with the exception of my PAD (£75 to CC1).  In terms of CC1 I have received a text to say they are refunding the interest I paid during the lockdown payment holiday.  I don't know if this is a scam, but if it's genuine it will be nice to see some interest charges refunded to CC1 balance.  Will have to wait and see, they have said they are writing to me so if it's genuine I am sure I will get a letter in the next few days with the details on it.

We have had a little bit of movement in terms of house-move paperwork, we have done all we can and it's back with the solicitor now.  I'm still not going to hold my breath, it's no good for my health!

  • Another NSD is on the cards for today, I've no plans to go anywhere and all meals will be from what we have in.  Managed to get cracked on with some packing over the last few days and I feel better for it.  Today's PAD was £16 to CC1, the balance is coming down nicely :)   Once CC1 is done, I will move on to CC2 which is also accruing interest at the moment.

It's pay day tomorrow (does a little dance) so I will be making some larger payments and adding some money to the moving house account.  I'll feel rich for a day and then it'll all be gone again ha!
