Congratulations with how much you have paid off. That is brilliant.
Thank you! I must admit that keeping a track of it on here is spurring me on :)
Writing our numbers down this morning has left me a bit dejected. Seeing the debt total jump up is sad :(

But I'm sure it will be worth it in the long run :)

It definitely will be worth it! the majority is the van and it's going to bring you so much joy and cheap accommodation over the years to come!

  • Morning, another bright and clear day as I look out the window, hoping to get a few loads of washing on the line today.

The statement for CC2 has been generated so I've made my payment there and now just waiting for the final statement on card number 4, but that's 0% so will just be the minimum payment for now until we have moved and the finances are all squared away. Once CC 4 has been paid my total debt will have dropped below the £18k mark, the lowest it's been since I can remember.

It's tempting to throw more at it but I know that this month I have the insurance payments, a vet bill and a few birthdays to pay for, plus there could be movement on the house move at any point and we will need to pay for removals and packing materials etc.

I just need to learn to be patient, however I'm not sure it's one of my natural traits!

Hope you all have a great day

  • Irritatingly, CC#2 has had an interest adjustment after I sent my payment and the balance is now not rounded  :D  So that's 2 cards messing with my OCD at the moment...

Good news, Pinecone research payout has been arranged this morning so that's £10 winging its way to my bank account.  Made a bank round down to CC#1 this morning too and aside from that there will be no spending today.  Or tomorrow either, as I am planning my supermarket shop for Sunday morning (it tends to be quieter then and there's a fresh bread delivery)

Hope everyone has a good Friday

  • Mixed weekend in terms of weather, mood, spending and clearing debts.  Saturday was a spendy day. Planned spends but spending none the less.  Today, aside from planned grocery spends (I stick to a planned list and never deviate unless they're out of stock of something) I've not frivolously spent a penny.

The CC balances finally got the better of me and I paid another £99.98 to CC2 rounding it down to the 'next 100'. I know my daily PAD will take care of CC1 and the day before payday I will round it off.   :D

I feel a bit like a stuck record when I type this but 'we are hoping for some news on the house move next week'. *rolls eyes* - It seems like it's taking forever and the solicitors are all blaming each other whilst us mere mortals seem to spend our days chasing for information and speaking to each other to try and work out what the real hold up is...  FML!  I honestly thought we would be in and settled by mid-May... Next week!!  I was wrong...

I hope everyone's had a lovely weekend.  I'm going to end the weekend with a glass of wine and a film, and a cuddle with the pooch.

  • It's been a while since I updated, and I'm not feeling very positive this week if I'm honest. There has been less contact with the 'outside world' despite me trying to reach out to friends and family, I guess people are getting busy preparing to go back to some kind of normality from Monday.

Work has been tremendously busy, there just aren't enough hours in the day and whilst I am not 'struggling' with work, I do feel like I may need to re-assess my work life balance a bit. It's easy to lose track when working from home, it's too easily accessible.

The house move seems to be impacting me the most, I feel like I am trying to organise everything and provide all the updates when actually, isn't this what we are paying our solicitor and estate agents a huge amount of money to do?  I have always been a bit of a control freak and the fact that I'm not in control here is starting to really mess with my head. :(

On a positive note, I have been chipping away at that CC1 by sending additional daily payments rounding down my bank account, it really does add up and make a difference.  Planned payments alone this month would take my total debt to £17986.27 (just under the £18k mark) but with additional payments I have made it's currently at £17849.71 which is quite a bit extra!  My insurance payments for annual home and car cover came out on Monday so I feel like I know where I am for the rest of the fiscal month now... maybe I can be a bit more brave with the daily extra payments? Watch this space.

I hope everyone (If you're still along for the ride) is keeping safe and well.

  • Hi lovely,

I hope that the house move goes through smoothly, I guess the pandemic doesn't help matters.

Well done on the overpayments, the CC's are going down nicely.  I know that you've had the insurances added to it but it's still going the right way :star:

Ah, thanks for stopping by :)

I'm crossing every part of my body in the hope that the move goes smoothly (and happens ASAP) Pandemic hasn't helped matters as well as the craziness of the housing market right now...

I paid the house and car insurance annual premiums from my pay, those costs haven't gone on the cards, I've not used them for spending for years, just chipping away at the balances.
