I’m due to go to Greece at the end of May. Postponed from last May. A lot has to go right for this holiday to go ahead. Genuinely feeling 2% more optimistic than I did this time last week but like I said a lot of things need to happen before the holiday can go ahead. I might get lucky and everything comes together.0

That's a brave decision. Hopefully it works out for you - then you can let us know how things are in the resorts.caeler said:I’m due to go to Greece at the end of May. Postponed from last May. Brave or silly. Undecided. And it's a cruise.IvanOpinion said:

I have a voucher for a hotel in Gran Canaria, it must be used by the end of May for a holiday that is completed by the end of June. I am holding off doing anything and will review probably at end of April beginning of May. I am loath to have to write it off as it is well over £1000, but if I must, then so be it.
The hotel have been spectacularly unhelpful so far and whilst I will try getting them to extend the voucher if necessary I hold out very little hope they will do so.
Just for background, the hotel was paid via debit card direct, they were closed and cancelled our booking, Bank failed to action our chargeback (that is currently with the financial ombudsmen) and insurance refused our claim as a voucher had been offered.
I have booked flights though for mid September for a booked hotel in Majorca (carried over from last year), the tickets were cheap and I booked on the basis if we are still in this situation come September I'll just write off the tickets and abandon all hope. That particular resort is tiny and have already said if they lose too many bookings this year then it is unlikely they will be able to reopen again going forward into 2022, I'll only lose the deposit there though as hotel being very reasonable.

Don't forget that there are a lot of people who have to wear a mask all day for their job so we shouldn't moan too much about having to wear one for 2-3 hours to go on holiday.Pollycat said:Ganga said:Well i will own up and confess that we have booked to go to the Canaries at the end of May ,we have both had our first jab and should have had our second well before then ,we are of a certain age and as i cannot take it with me we might as well spend it.
We went to Greece in October ,wore masks in the airport except in the bar ,wore them on the plane unless eating or drinking ,no problems ,bear in mind when we go food shopping once a week we have to wear face coverings so basically used to it now ,I spend less than an hour in my local supermarket when I visit between once a week and once a fortnight. The experience of wearing a mask in the airport and on a 3+ hour flight would be very different to my visit to Aldi. However, we have a holiday deferred from June last year (fully paid for) and if it goes ahead and we if don't want to lose our money (we'd make that decision if we have to), then we would have to follow whatever policy is in place at airports & on airlines.
I suspect mask wearing on planes will be with us for a very long time and even if it isn't required it could become the polite thing to do just as it is in Asia.1

Lovely, it has been several years since we have done a cruise. Keep saying about doing another one but have just not got round to it. I know some of the cruise lines had been talking about quite tight protocols being in place, hopefully they do not take the edge of the holiday. I would still be interested in hearing of your experience (assuming you get to go).caeler said:

We changed our holiday from April to August this year fuerteventura bit of a punt but since the announcement by Boris bookings have gone absolutely crazy for Summer 21, Winter 21 and Summer 22. We can always move it again but rather book now and not be able to book later. If all goes to plan UK going to be very busy probably wont be able to go anywhere. Abroad not so sure but I know some companies have sold more in last couple of weeks than when Thomas Cook crashed and its running into the millions.0

It would be interesting once foreign travel is allowed again for people to post up their experiences with various destinations and airlines.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
