Amex accepted sensible limit

Why do old school banks have low ratings and tech start ups have high ratings? Think of the demographics. 

Older people with older legacy banks are more the type to go complain when it all goes wrong - younger people who are enthusiastic about tech start ups - and want to prove that their Monzo or Starling is better than anything Barclays or Natwest have to offer leave positive reviews in abundance to show how amazing they are.

Trustpilot is not an accurate indicator as to whether a company is good or bad. If you rely on trustpilot you'd be regularly scammed. There was a thread here not so long ago about a company selling phones from Australia for a ridiculously low price - jt had some wonderful trustpilot ratings - and then as it turned out - everybody that went for it was scammed. Luckily most have claimed their money back from the banks. 

You might need to open your eyes a bit wider to get feedback on what's garbage - and what's not. 

(And if they really were garbage - pure, unadulterated garbage - then I am very confident that Amazon would not be working with them as their credit card provider)

I checked it on Trustpilot only after I saw feedback on Amazon's own website... I've also read about NewDay here on MSE forum before. Unlike Amex, I don't really remember many positive posts for NewDay here.

Btw, Tandem is also a new "hipster bank" yet it has relatively poor rating. There may be some truth in what you've said but it's not an universal rule.

So this is what you see on Amazon as "top reviews"

I think a company like Amazon could have chosen a better partner to back their CC. NewDay is literally a garbage lender.

If Limit Increases are required, NewDay offer some of the most generous, after a few months of repayments from Min or Full.

My Intro 20 pounds Item is due to Arrive Wed's
And it is a replacement for a household Purchase which has lasted 10years approx.

Well you're not going to get reviews for an Amex/Natwest/Barclays card on Amazon now are you? Compare apples with apples. You can see similar comments to those all across trustpilot for just about every big brand financial institution out there. It still doesn't make them garbage.  But you only want to hear what you want to hear - and think Amex at 2 stars is better than all the others - but Newday that also has 2 stars is garbage. There you go. 

One of the biggest complaints of an Amazon card is that people apply for it through Amazon - and then it gets made the default payment card. It's laid out clearly in the terms and conditions - but people don't read those - and then they get upset when items that have been charged to the card require payment - and they hadn't noticed. That's down to customer error - not the card providers fault.

I did the calculation last night - it was actually £110 - and there's another £10 about to be credited on the next statement - so £120 in just over a year. It's just through regular spend - family circumstances have meant that a lot of adaptions have had to be made to the house this year, and so a few big ticket items have been sourced as they've been the most competitively priced. It's only buying what we would have had to have bought anyway.

Thanks, only on the basis if find work soon, then maybe I can use Amex or Amazon cards for replacing kitchen electricals , e.g. Fridge Freezer is next then maybe Cooker.

It's actually a combination of Trustpilot + Amazon reviews + MSE posts.
I've read a lot of good things about Amex here, and even on Reddit, or anywhere on the internet. That also included some bad experiences, of course. Not so many positive things I found about NewDay. This thread is probably the first time I see some MSE members praising NewDay.
